Hi all,
My name is Daniel, I'm a 31yo Territory Rep for a hygiene and safety company from Christchurch, New Zealand (yes, where the big earthquake was recently). I'm married with no kids and lead a fairly boring existence that consists of work, sleep, and socialising/recreation in my spare time.
Currently the only multi-player game I actively play is Rift - I've mainly played on Alsbeth server where I have a L50 Eth Rogue, but there aren't many other people from my timezone there so it's difficult to find decent groups.
Prior to playing Rift I was a WoW junkie, been raiding in that since late-Molten-Core days. I've been in casual and hardcore guilds and everything in between, and decided I didn't really like either extreme. I prefer playing with people who are relaxed most of the time and realise that we're not all responsibility-less teenagers, but who also know how to put their serious faces on when the need arises ingame.
I've been a gamer since about 1985, when my first computing and gaming experience was playing games in BASIC on a Sanyo 8086 XT with 2x 360k floppy discs and a green screen. What really hooked me on gaming was when we swapped houses with another family for the Christmas holidays, and I discovered what an NES was and just why Super Mario Bros 3 is one of the best selling games of all time.
Since then I've played regularly on everything from Atari ST's and Commodore 64's through to modern PC's and consoles. I'm no longer really a console as I prefer the more cerebral style of gaming that PC's offer - console gaming has diverged in a direction I'm not really that chuffed with.
I'm also a recovering pen-and-paper AD&D addict (2nd and 3rd eds, none since) who owns the dubious distinction of once making my DM weep with frustration at my ability to find loopholes in his plot rules
I'd like to join a guild with people with related interests and maturity level, and whom I would be just as happy to shout a beer and go fishing with as slash with swords in an online world. TOG was recommended to me by a member of another forum I frequent, so here I am.
Hope that gives you some idea of who or what I'm like, and I look forward to talking further soon.
Many thanks,
Daniel S.
