Hi Folks,
So I finally got around to signing up at TOG! I was recommended here by a friend and bookmarked the site, kept coming back for a look occasionally, and now you've finally roped me in

.
My gaming days started back when, uhm..., well pretty much from the time I knew that games existed. I was going to say my first machine was an Atari2600, but there was actually an earlier one that I had which had a slider that allowed you to select from several inbuilt games. Can't remember much about it because I was probably about 5 years old at the time, maybe someone out there also had one?
The machine that really got the ball rolling though was the C64 for my ninth birthday. I loved that thing and there was nothing I didn't learn how to do on it. Playing games, writing games, cracking games, shadow RAM and sprites in the borders.... ah.... if only I knew half as much about modern day systems.
These days I find myself playing Civ (bit of a love hate thing with 5, but 4 was the best best damn game ever made), Silent Hunter, various flavours of Modern Warfare, Starcraft, Company of Heroes, Trackmania, etc., and recently been making some solid progress on Crysis 2 (if you haven't tried it yet, it's awesome!). I'll often get dragged back to a freeform space sim (yeah... I never really got over Elite), mostly Evochron as Eve just feels like too much of a commitment. I'll try anything that comes recommended though.
Work and my 1 year old don't leave me with the time I'd like for gaming these days, but I still get a reasonable amount in. I'm in Sydney and you can usually find me online after about 7pm and on weekends.
Anyhow, I'm looking forward to enjoying the company of a few more like-minded people, and like many of you a little over the "omfg ur pwnd noob lrn 2 play" crowd. Games for me have always been about fun, adventure, and rubbing your mate's nose in it!
Cheers,
Ben.
