Hello everyone!

I hope you guys are ready for some walls of text.

What games are you currently playing/looking to play with TOG?
I'm playing Global Agenda and I'm really liking it. I also played Black Prophecy while I was a beta tester for both EU and US servers and while the combat is really good it couldn't "convince" me to stay. Maybe I'll try when/if the station walking feature is released in the near future.
Aside from that I'm eargerly waiting for Deus Ex: Human Revolution (and hoping to god they don't screw up like they did with Invisible War) and Mass Effect 3.

What was the first machine you played games on or pen and paper game you played?
My first console was an Atari 2800 and that devious machine consumed countless hours of my life. Especially when those rumors about the River Raid end, where your plane supposedly landed somewhere, started circulating. It was funny that all my friends either saw someone getting at that land site or knew someone who got there. Those bastards...

Why do you want to join TOG?
Well, I'll have to tell a bit of my online gamimg history to answer that.
My first contac with MMOs was with Cabal Online in a brazillian server. There, after struggling with all sorts os misbehaviors (and as much as I hate to admit it, brazillians have a bad online reputation for good reasons), I found an awesome guild. They were respectful, fun to chat and play with and so on. Of course, not all was perfect but I carry only good memories of my time with them. I even met some of the members in real life! Those who lived nearby, that is. And it was funny that after some time calling each other by our nicknames, this was the only way to refer to one another without feeling some disconfort. There was an occasion that I was with an ex-girlfriend at the mall and we met a fellow SURVIVORS member there. She thought it was so weird for me to call him Mark3 instead of Marcos and for him to call me Mene or Menegroth instead of Bruno. Good times...
Unfortunately, over time real-life ended-up separating us all and the guild ceased to exist. But that didn't mean we were no longer friends. Even after moving to the other side of the country, I still talk to them. Some no longer play MMOs, others no longer play games at all.

Anyway, after that I always sought the same enviroment when playing MMOs and it's been really hard to find it. And after reading the FAQ and some other thing here, I think I finally found it.

Tell us about yourself or anything else you'd like to share.
My name is Bruno, a 25 years old brazillian. But don't worry: I'm not like most of my compatriots. In fact, even I can't stand most brazillians.
I'm living again with my mother since she is sick and need 24/7 care. Fortunately, I was able to quit my job for that. Some say I should have hired a nurse to take care of her but I just couldn't. That woman gave me life and sacrificed herself so much to feed me, give a good education and prepare me for life. I just can't leave her at the care of a complete stranger. I still freelance once in a while by training some corporate people "in the way of the internet" and other tecnologies. Which is kind of ironic since I always said I would never be a teacher. And I also have a girlfriend that is fullfuiling all the pre-requisites for me to want to marry her, which is a good thing. But also a scary thing.

That's about it! Thanks for your patience to go through all that. And sorry for any mispelling and grammar errors. As you can see, english is not my first language.

Thanks guys!

I've already posted on the GA sub-forums. It looks like the GA's division is not active right now, which is a shame. Well, I'm rooting for GA's division return but if that doesn't happen, I'll just wait for another game that suits me.

And thanks, Gizmosis, but P2P games are not my thing. I can't justify to myself paying monthly just to keep playing. I respect those who have no problems with that kind of model. It's just my personal opinion that paying monthly for a game when there's countless others out there is not worth it.

Ahh, but what you can do in EvE is play to pay.

What this means is that if you earn enough ingame, you can buy your gametime like a timecard per month. Its called PLEX and is sold ingame. You then just use it and it pays for your next month of gaming.
It really depends on how much you play though.....

Well, I generaly have the time to play a lot when I'm not giving courses. The thing is: I don't want to end up with an in-game job.

Is it too dificult to acquire those... erm... let's say credits since I don't know the name of EVE currency, by playing? What is involved to get those credits? Depending on what I have to do and if it's not so time-consuming, I'm willing to give it a try and maybe join your ranks.

From what I have seen, you would have needed to have played for a few months to get the skills up to do it, then you will be wanting to be playing about 10 - 20 hours per month on nothing but the money making side. If your willling and able to put that much time in, then you can make enough to pay to play, if not, then your more like me and have pay your way through but have lots of fun doing it.

Otherwise therre are plenty of free to play MMO's in here that you can also play like Pirates of the Burning seas.

Unfortunately, EVE is not for me then.

I'll stick with Hellgate London and maybe try Tribes: Ascend when it's released. But thanks anyway Gizmosis.
