Hi TOGgers – I’ve been meaning to officially apply to enter your ranks for a while now, and a long slow Steam update is just the opportunity I needed to pull my finger out!
Its official – apparently I am now considered old, as my (younger) wife gleefully informed me on my 36th b’day; “Oooh – you’re now closer to 40 than 30”. I don’t necessarily consider myself old, though I now notice I make that groan/grunt noise when I raise out of the chair after a lengthy gaming session...
I’ve been gaming most of my life – I dabbled in D&D and even some tabletop Warhammer 40K in my younger days. I still remember tinkering with my first computer, a VZ200 from Dick Smith – it even had games, though they had to be loaded via a tape player. Next was the Apple 2e (ah.. Rescue Raiders, Lode Runner, Star Blazer), then the mighty Amiga 500 (Silkworm, Boulderdash, Super Cars), then the PC era (Falcon 3.0). I remember when Wolfenstein was first released, and then Doom. I had some respite from dedicated gaming during the uni years (oops, except Quake 3) , so I was a late starter to Starcraft. I can’t tell you much about the 3 months following installation......
I’ve been spamming my way around TF2 for a while now, and CSS before that. My...ah...”approach”.. in both games is much the same – charge in, spray&pray and respawn... I invite you to watch my pyro work in TF2 to confirm!
I’m a “FOR THE TEAM” kind of player – I’ll distract/decoy the sentry when the team requires such sacrifice, but I’ll equally call for a class rush when it’s time for some shenanigans. I’ve stumbled upon the Aus TOG TF2 server and have really enjoyed it and the camaraderie amongst the players. The opportunity to join in on some TOG matches is exciting too!
