Anderon's Introduction / App for Full Membership
Hello, all!
I'm quite interested in becoming a member of TOG, specifically for RIFT and maybe BC2.
I'm relatively new to Rift (been playing about 2 weeks now), but not to MMO's. I haven't been playing any MMO's for about a year now, but prior to that I had played WoW for about 4 years, intermittently piddling around with Warhammer Online, LOTRO, Lineage 2, RF Online, Guild Wars, and I'm sure there are others. Before WoW, I had a serious addiction to Shadowbane, spending way too much time playing. As a note, I was with the same guild through all my games, up until Molten Core in WoW. The raiding mentality of WoW splintered our guild as raid groups became cliques and everyone was arguing with everyone. So, I left them, and MMO's, to finish up my college education (I'm a non-traditional student, I'm 44 years old this year).
When I was a teenager, I had two hobbies - playing D&D and my Atari 800XL. That was my first significant computer (although not my first computer, I had a Commodore Vic-20 before that, but I mostly called BBS'es with it). I can remember the very first game I ever played on a desktop computer (not an arcade game); it was Zork. Zork is the reason I became so interested in computers, and video games - it was a passion that would follow me until now, 31 years later.
But I'm rambling, so let me get to the point. I enjoy the social aspects of a guild, but all of the guilds I've encountered so far are run by teenagers, and they mass-recruit (mostly other teenagers). I like that TOG has an application process. It means that whoever joins, is serious about becoming part of this community. And I am serious about joining TOG, because I like the companionship and sense of belonging to something larger than myself.
Thanks for considering me.
