Hi All,
I wish I had found this community sooner to be honest, but here I am now simply as a forum member or full member, however things turn out. I have been an avid gamer since I was a kid, and will probably remain so till I am an old man, I certainly have no less inclination to play games now than when I was a pimple faced little git. Currently 31yo from Brisbane, Australia, working as a business analyst for a medical laboratory group, paying off a mortgage living with my long term girlfriend (who is not a gamer, but nobody is perfect eh?)
What games are you currently play/looking to play with TOG? Most recently I have closed down my Eve accounts and taken up Perpetuum. I ended up playing mostly solo in Eve due to the strict "be here at this time or else" attitude of the major corps in Eve (I was a member of Oberon Incorporated, Morsus Mihi, with my brother during the last year or so of my Eve gaming.) I have only the time for a couple of nights a week or so gaming so that wasn't working out. This has more or less carried over into Perpetuum, however I miss being a part of a community within games as I had been during earlier years, so went searching and here I am.
I am also looking forward to SWTOR, applied for beta testing a number of months back but have not received the lucky dip for that one so will likely have to just wait it out.
What was the first machine you played games on or pen and paper game you played? The first game I remember playing was Paperboy on C64 as far as PC's go ... I became a master Pong player on the old Atari with the circular paddle controllers as well maybe around the same time, I'm not sure. As I went through school progressed through the civs, diablos, HOMM's, various D&D's, etc etc ... PnP I tried D&D a couple of times, didn't particularly like the systems, I preferred Cyberpunk 2020 and the White Wolf world (Vampire, Werewolf, Mage, Changeling etc) ... wouldn't mind playing those again, but finding the time and the people to do so on a regular basis just doesn't happen any more.
Why do you want to join TOG? An X and Y thing sort of ... played MMO's since Diablo2, and then Dark Age of Camelot I played for years shortly after release in 2001 or so? (note this is still my favourite of all mmorpg's I have tried, the pvp system has remained unbeaten as far as I am concerned) ... anyways through the last 10 years or so I have noted a huge difference in the online personalities of the players of different age groups ... it is probably obvious when you think about the differences in real life, however I think that the anonymity of the internet serves as a catalyst to the extremes which I would just rather avoid ... or even kill where possible, it kind of tickles me a little seeing a teeny/tweeny rage at something that I would just shrug and think "well crap, I'm dead, owell, learn and move on" ... as a general rule I'm not one for stereotyping but it seems the younger generation of players have a much higher percentage representation in the raging arrogant arseface population than the older gen gamer who are for the most part take a bit more laid back approach ...
Tell us about yourself or anything else you'd like to share. Think I've typed enough, I've been a solo gamer for so long that so many words in one place hurt my head ... If you all have read down to here then you've probably had enough in any case,
Cheers for the opportunity to say Hey, catch you around,
Craig (Adra)
