Hello all,
I would love to join TOG. I consider myself (while relative) to be old. I think that is step one to being in TOG :P
I am looking for a place to hang out with others that understand gaming is 2nd to family and life, and things come up sometimes while gaming with friends. All my real life friends are similar to me and we all have kids so we understand if all of a sudden you are gone and not responding..then come back later after we fail hard that you had a family issue.
I always use XFire, so easy to find me when I play, and will use whatever voice is needed, TS3, Vent, GSC, whatever.
When I game, to keep this from happening to me, I usually duct tape my kids to the couch if raining outside or to the deck so they don't bother me and get in trouble. My oldest is old enough to where I let him bring the others water and snacks if needed.
I am 37, and have been gaming since the Atari 2600.
Gaming History
As far as I can remember (remember I am an "old" gamer) and not in any order: Turbo Grafix 16, the handheld Turbo Grafix, Gameboy, Sega Genisis, Nintendo, Intellivision, ColecoVision, Xbox, Xbox 360, DS, Android phone, Gamecube, Wii, PSP. I think that is all. Computer gaming started with
Starflight on some homebrew computer my mom had for me, no idea what it was. I think my second was Leisure Suit Larry (not sure my mom knew what that was)! I have gamed ever since. I started in MMO's with EQ, AC, AO, DAoC, Planetside, SWG, Horizons, EQ2, Guildwars, CoH, DDO, Vanguard beta, LotRO, Tabula Rasa beta, AoC, WAR, Aion, STO, Rift, and next on the list is TOR.
With MMO's I enjoy/prefer open world PvP servers although I am not just a PvP'er, I want quality PvE as well, and not a huge fan of grinding scenarios/battlegrounds, I prefer to do PvE and have the random PvP while doing it, Rift put this together nicely except they gave no benefit of doing it, WAR had reasons to do open PvP, which was exactly what I liked.
FPS..too many to list. All of the main stream games I play, usually on a PC. Latest is FEAR3 and Brink. Going to get Rage as well.
I had about a year where I played book D&D during high school or late middle school.
Time
I spend most nights gaming as my main hobby, and usually play around 8pm EST til 11pm, later if a weekend with nothing going on the next day. When doing FPS games, it is usally a friend or two rolling together, and in MMO's, we join a guild that seems to fit our needs. When doing MMO's, I tend to spend more time than I should.
Ok, I think I smothered you with enough text for one post..look forward to meeting you all.
Oh one more thing, we used to hit all of the LAN parties in our area, but they are all gone now, so we still have small 8-10 people LAN parties a couple times a year at each others homes..and I "am" making a trip to QuakeCon next year!
