Application - Kensei5000
Hi, I'm Richard, a 25 year old Sales Engineer/Trainer for a US based SAN software company.
I live in the outer north-east of Melbourne (Australia) and work in the CBD. The travel really makes a dent (to the tune of 15 hours a week) in my free time, but very little will stop me from getting online to relax infront of the warm glow of my desk to the gentle soothing howl of the SAN and gaming rigs.
I started gaming on PC, and have rarely strayed far from the platform. Prince of Persia is the first memorable experience of the era, with Lemmings and various other 2.5" floppy games cycling through over the years. The first legit game I had on CD-ROM was Duke Nukem 3D full uncut release, which my poor parents were conned into bringing back from the UK. Fortunately they didnt read the back cover and paid little heed to the content. Software piracy was commonplace in the country I spent much of my childhood in, so when I wasn't playing in mud, or setting small inanimate things on fire, I was playing a multitude of new games. There was a brief era around the mid-late 90's where the PS1 was king, but it was short lived, as titles like Project IGI, Diablo II, AvP, CS and many others were offering a more graphically rich and immersive experience.
More recently, I got into GW when it was first released, and later on WoW. Before I rid myself of my account, I had 3 or so geared 85's, primarily in guilds formed of older members where I was able to relax without the various dramas of certain younger, more excitable players, but the enjoyment was really no longer there, so it is not missed.
I've been a fan of the Battlefield series since '42, but never really played beyond the LAN until BF2. I tend to put focus on one game at a time, and at the moment, if I'm online, I'm on Kensei5000 on BFBC2.
I currently run a small LAN event every couple of months in Diamond Creek, primarily as a way for the older gaming community to stay in touch and catch up over a few beers and some good gaming.
I am looking to join TOG to be a part of a community of like-minded gamers. Having a squad for work with in BC2 is invaluable and can make all the difference to the gameplay experience. I tend to be very team oriented in online multiplayer games, and firmly believe that if someone is not interested in working as a team, perhaps they should have clicked the "Single Player" section at the game menu. So far this has been with a group of 6-8 friends when we can all find time, however, having additional people to work with is always more fun.
