I'm looking to join (wall of text inside)
Hi there TOG folks.
A good friend of mine recently informed me of TOG (thanks, Daemondai) and I thought to myself what better place to be?
Now for a little about my gaming history:
I'm a bit of an MMO junkie. I've tried almost all of the major ones and even a lot of the truly obscure ones. The online components and persistent world elements of MMOs are mostly what draws me to them, as from my experience they usually leave a lot to be desired with story and gameplay in most cases which is why I jump from one to another with some frequency. Currently I'm playing Fallen Earth - I subscribed a couple weeks before the F2P transition and have been enjoying it on and off when I have time, and would like to do so with TOG.
For offline games I mostly enjoy a good RPG such as oblivion or fallout, but I'm not too picky about what I play, I just want it to be entertaining. I've recently finished rage, and before that deus ex:hr.
My gaming life started when I was rather young and by father bought a 286 to work on at home to save him having to make the commute to the city every day - this was way back when those things were new. The earliest game I recall playing was commander keen - I would run around the mars landscape and zap aliens and work on the "martian alphabet" so I could read all the secret messages. There were games before this, though none so memorable, and many, many games after it.
My first introduction to MMOs was as a coder for an ultima online emulated server based in WA back when I was studying at TAFE (1999ish). I met some good friends there, although sadly I've lost touch with them over the years. Since then, as mentioned above, I've done just about everything in the mmo world - I've left characters to rot in just about every mmo you can think of.
A few years after I studied at TAFE the first time I was introduced to D&D by a friend and thoroughly enjoyed it. Since then I've played the occasional game where I can find it.
... and myself:
I've studied IT at TAFE and university, but long since decided that I've no interest in solving people's computer problems. I worked fulltime in management at an electronics store til I was 25, at which point I decided on a career switch as retail is a horrible way to make a living. I returned to study at TAFE doing graphic design, worked part time sales at the store til I finished my apprenticeship, and have worked as a designer ever since I got my bit of paper. Mostly I do typesetting for books and magazines, but whatever crosses my desk is usually welcome. I left Australia and moved to Malaysia to be with my (now) fiance in early 2009, and have loved it here ever since.
I'm wanting to join TOG because I'm quite over the immaturity that is found all over the online gaming scene, and from what I'm told so are you all. I've lost interest in more guilds than I can count due to drama caused by those barely in their teens (or just out of them). Having been told about TOG by a good friend, I knew that this was the place I should be - so here I am.
