Talking Application - Ritechezfire

Hi everyone,

The name's Ritechezfire. It's hopefully a somewhat phonetic spelling for "Righteous Fire" which had too many characters for inclusion in what became my main wow character's name [an alliance human pally - but don't prejudge me.. I never liked the forced upon green helmets and purple pants]. Hmmn, what else can I say? Maybe a bit more on that later. The name was inspired by the "consecration spell" and sort of derived from my time playing Starcraft (and the firebat's "fire it up"), but probably more so, stems back to the Privateer Expansion - Righteous Fire "not my tachyons!"

1. What games are you currently play/looking to play with TOG?
I had played a little STO with you guys some time ago as well as some Warhammer. But unfortunately that fell away and I got tied up with other things. For the moment, my main interest is in SW-TORing it up with the cool people.

2. What was the first machine you played games on or pen and paper game you played?
Believe it or not.. a Tandy TRS-80. It wasn't actually my own, but my father's. I think the first game I'd played was called "Serpent Time" but I have very fond memories of a game called Tapper [where you basically had to run around serving beer]... which was a great introduction to computers for a 7 year old!! That followed a short time later by my introduction to the greatest gaming house of all time - SIERRA.. and playing/completing LSL - the original... played on a 286 system. I don't think my father fully appreciated what the content of that particular "adventure game" was about.. but it was very educational, both at a social level as well as secularly.. I certainly learned quite a bit of historical information while trying to get past the questions to prove I was of age to enter the game. Years later I heard about the control+alt+z sequence or something similar, that allowed you to bypass the questions. That would have saved a 9 year old a whole lot of re-loads! But yes, I was a huge Sierra fan - growing up I'd wanted to work for Ken Williams and be a games tester! I bought/played/completed all the SQ series games, as well as all the QFGs, a bit of the PQ and a couple of the KQ. I also thoroughly enjoyed lots of LucasArts eg. Monkey Islands, Loom, etc. Oh and have to mention Ultima V - absolutely awesome! If you've never played that... it's not too late!! I've played a bit of D&D - Pool of Radiance, pretty much every CIV except strangely enough CIV IV. I like RPGs a lot (KOTOR, NWN, Arcanum, Dragon Age, etc). I played and loved all the Wing Commanders, including Privateer - and how good was xwing! Throw in a bit of John Madden's TV Sports Football, Test Drive, Stunts, Faceoff, Shinobi, Double Dragon, Syndicate and so on. So yep, I'm pleased to say I've enjoyed gaming during the glory years and really do like quite a variety although I'm not really into the FPS anymore (that might be due to my UT days, and sadly finding that, whenever the rocket launcher was loading up and didn't have a full ammo count.. it would auto fire.. usually as I was rounding a corner in a corridor...)

3. Why do you want to join TOG?
Just looking to game with a happy bunch of people, who don't take themselves too seriously (although I don't mind if they game seriously In the past I've played a few games with you guys and enjoyed the atmosphere and willingness of the more experienced players who so readily share their info, strategies (and loot!) with the more casual, less experienced players. Which is great because I don't always have a lot of time for gaming these days. Besides which, I've already played a little of Warhammer Online and STO with TOG members, who demonstrated that fantastic attitude. I also have a number of friends who have been TOG members for some time now, and am especially looking forward to joining a TOG SW:TOR guild and building some memorable moments together.

4. Tell us about yourself or anything else you'd like to share.
I played a fair bit of wow (or should I say auction house?!?) and occasionally did things somewhat differently to other players. My "main toon" was actually my mule/auctioneer - which had significantly more "play time" than my main.. and in fact, all my toons combined. I very much enjoyed that side of things... searching for cheap deals/ingredients, then crafting and trying to sell for profit. But probably my most memorable moment was when I finally hit 60 - just days before TBC was released. I recall the moment quite dramatically since I wasn't really expecting it to happen at the time. I'd actually just about logged off after a late night gaming session where I'd been madly working hard towards hitting 60. I was about to log and a 40-something whispered for some help with a quest. So I thought I'd go along and give him a hand when.. I revealed a small part of the map and ding'd. I still can't believe I hit the level cap through exploration. I understand there's a MMO game in dev that's going to try cater for different play styles including "exploring" which could be interesting. So who knows? Perhaps we'll all get into that too. Aside from computer games, I play a bit of soccer and have recently gotten into Euro style boardgames. There are so many awesome boardgames out there now, and I like how the Euro take on things works. I like how a lot of those games are more about doing something better than the competition, rather than taking what they have off them - although that's pretty fun too! I've been getting into more of the co-operative boardgames including Shadows Over Camelot, Defenders of the Realm and Space Alert - which I highly recommend.

Word of warning.. if accepted, you might have to put up with a number of 'old man jokes' as well as poor puns / character naming...
For example; some of my wow characters had included;
Ritechezfire - Human Pally
Goldelock - Warlock
Mehituneehi - dwarf hunter
Howirunic - Death Night
Scratchthat - Druid
and so on.

Oh and I'm only 33 yrs old, based on the East Coast of Australia and will probably be gaming around the 8:00 - 12:00 PM time period - about once a week.

Sorry about the essay. Thanks for reading & it was fun sharing.
