Title says it all really.
OK maybe not.
I'm an middle-aged gent from Calgary, Alberta, Canada that likes to game with a wife and a job.Well, I
have a wife, I don't necessarily like to game with her. OK that's not true. She did play WoW with me to almost level 50 before deciding that just wasn't the most interesting way to spend so many hours. Regardless, she puts up with my gaming addiction.
I've been playing a lot of Battlefield 3 lately with people 1/2 to 2/3 my age and who are, purposefully or not, driving me crazy. Team work has died. Long live Team work!
I've been playing video games for a very long time. I remember what it means to sit in front of a 14" TV with an Atari and play pitfall. I remember how slapping a quarter down on the glass of a cabinet in use was the 'virtual' throwing of the gauntlet back before anything was actually virtual. I remember the combination of 80's rock and pop played too loud, vending machines ready to cheat you out of a couple plays so you could buy over-priced junk food and the weird guys who always managed to get jobs making change in arcades. Fond memories all.
Then came the Internet and the MMO genre. Everquest was my first step into that world and it was a hard place. A death penalty that could make the strongest of men cry, progression that seemed to take forever and camping the same mobs for hours on end.
Later I played other games: Jumpgate, Planetside, SWG(one of the reasons I'm here today), WoW, Fallen Earth, LOTRO, EvE. I love the MMO genre and the brotherhood it engenders in those who play it for the experience and the people.
I'm here today because I found TOG guild on the ToR website. I actually went ahead and applied there before even applying here for two reasons:
- I am bad at reading English
- I lie all the time about being bad at reading English
Regardless, I'm interested in joining up with TOG when SW:TOR goes live. I'm pre-ordered but not sure when my early access starts. AFAIK, I got my order in the same day they were being offered so hoping I'll be within the 5 or 4 days of early access.
I see that there are plenty of games supported by this particular group so I'll probably be visiting all the applicable forums in order to get as much info as I can. Though the FAQ listed this being an Aussie/US centric group, I'm sure there's plenty of other gamers from the Great White North in your ranks. Hopefully I can join up with you all.
Thanks for your consideration.
