[DONE] SWTOR app to The Obsidian Guard

I'm currently a LOTRO gamer (been playing since Beta), but I need a fix of BOTH fantasy AND Sci-fi. Been a SW nut since 1977 and A New Hope first hit the silver screen. I was 6 and had ALL the SW toys! I had SW EVERYTHING! SWTOR will likely become my main MMO. Been looking for a replacement for SWGO since they ruined a stellar game with the CU & NGE. I want to do SWTOR with TOG's Dark Side guild because a buddy of mine has at least applied.


Information about yourself:

I'm 40, so, I guess that makes me an "older" gamer. I've played MMOs for about 11 or 12 years. Started with Asheron's Call, briefly played EverSmack, moved on to LOTRO, tried the trials for EVE and World of Cartoonishness (WoW) (HATED IT!), and I've Beta'd multiple other games.

Married, got two YOUNG kids, got a law degree but haven't done much with it. IRL, I'm a political junkie, but I understand that some gamers are so thin-skinned that they get their panties in a wad at the sight of political opinions being expressed, so, I steer clear of such discussions in game just to keep the peace.


Information about your gaming history (i.e. first gaming console, or pen and paper game, etc)

I've touched on this a little above. Pen and Paper? Started playing Dungeons & Dragons when I was 12. Was active in RPGA until I moved from VA back home to AZ a couple years ago. I started an RPGA 4e gaming group in Woodbridge, VA and, despite initial local resistance, the group exploded in popularity. I've played all versions of the game from the Red Boxed Set to 4e. I don't buy into a lot of the grognard griping about 4e and I enjoy the game. Caved in to friends who hated 4e and played Pathfinder a little until a couple gamers in the group wanted to dictate how I play (no bringing a laptop, forced "role play," etc.), so, I walked and haven't looked back.

First console? I had an Atari. Loved Activision games like River Runner and Pitfall. Currently have a PS3 because it's the cheapest Blue-ray player on the market. Got the PS3 to appease my wife, for a blu-ray player, and the The Force Unleashed games. Was Puh-1$$3d!! that LucasArts initially didn't put out a PC version of tFU, but then the PC version was awful.


Why you'd like to join TOG

I want to join because a friend of mine has applied to join The Obsidian Guard, TOG's SWTOR Dark Side guild, and I'd like to be in the same guild as he is. I'd also like to hope that mature players are drama free (it's a frikken GAME!!), but I think those are high hopes! A bunch of old farts seem my speed. Amazed that as I get older, the more often I seem to be the oldest guy gaming.

Yeah, I like the Sith when they're not being stupid (undercutting themselves). However, with a young son who sees the world in very stark black & white terms, he hates it when I play "the bad guys". I'll have to play Light Side sometimes on occasion just to keep him happy. I guess the later it gets, the more likely he'll be in bed and the more likely I'll be able to play Sith in peace!
