Hello! I have just started playing the Old Republic, which is really my first full fledged leap into an MMO. I've dabbled a bit in a few others but mostly solo - just taking my time and exploring a bit of the world. I do have multiplayer crpg experience through some time with Neverwinter Nights but not organized mmo experience specifically. I own guild wars and have accounts on several free mmos as well, so I might get back into some of those at some point. I enjoy exploring different worlds and settings. I also play some cs:s and cod4, but for the most part I have played against bots since my early forays lead me to the conclusion that I needed a lot of practice! I saw that TOG has divisions for these games, so I thought I would check things out a bit further and have decided to apply for membership.

If I listed all the games I currently own and have played it would take a while! I really enjoy rpgs and playing story based shooters. My first and only console was an atari 2600. I also spent quite a lot of time playing games on my C64 - especially the old SSI Gold Box D&D games. I started D&D with the old red and blue basic and expert sets and played for quite a while. I haven't played any p&p for years, though. I've played a lot of crpgs over the years - from the gold box games I mentioned through Wizardry, Might and Magic, the Baldur's Gate series, Neverwinter Nights, Planescape Torment, Morrowind, etc. I also spent time on several muds and mushes in college. I got into the fps games quite a bit later, starting with Half-Life many years after it was released and then playing some others from there.

I would like to join TOG because I'd like to explore the multiplayer side of things more and have a place to chat about games in general. Seems like TOG would be a great place to do that. Some of my experiences playing with random folks have been less than ideal.

I'm 41 years old and live in the U.S. upper midwest with my wife and our dogs and cat. My wife is not a gamer but is very understanding and really great about letting me have time to play. I work mostly afternoons and evenings with some weekend time thrown in here and there as well, so my playing hours can vary. I sometimes end up playing a little bit at a time (which, ironically, can add up to quite a lot!) depending what my schedule is like during the day. That's one reason that single player rpgs and playing against bots has worked well - pause the game or jump in and out and they are very understanding!

I'm generally a pretty relaxed fellow. In rpgs I tend to like to explore the story and the setting and I expect that will be my approach to swtor as well. In shooters I enjoy having objectives... whether that means following the story or having a particular strategic goal. I can be reserved at times - kind of a textbook introvert (my MBTI is INFP and while I don't generally subscribe to putting folks in boxes it really is pretty accurate in my case) but I like to think of myself a generally friendly sort.
