Greeting everyone! My name is John aka shufunk and I have been gaming since the early age of 4! To start I was born in 1980 so nothing really crazy in those early days. My father had an atari and it was the newest home entertainment device and we were the few that had one in our neighborhood. My first personal console was the NES and I received the Super Mario Brothers/Duckhunt combo pack. At the rightful age of 11 I got the Sega Genesis with Sonic The Hedgehog. Sega dominated my gaming world for a while with hot games such as Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat. On Saturdays me and some of my friends would go to Putt-Putt for Super Saturday and we would participate in gaming tournaments. I really miss those days. That was gaming at it's prime! I don't want to bore you all with the rest of the timeline stories but I did own the following consoles in the order of purchase. Gameboy (1989), Playstation (1996), N64 (1996), Gameboy Color (199

, Dreamcast (1999), PS2 (2000), Gameboy Advance (2001), Nintendo Wii (2009), Nintendo DS (2009), Xbox360 (2010)
Gotta say being born in 1980 has been great since I got a chance to truely witness the evolution of video games. Speaking of which I do game on the PC as well.
It was in 96 when I was first introduced to a computer. My mother bought me a Packard Bell and it came with Windows 95! I was so fascinated by it I started reading books about them. I could go into great details on my computer history but I rather talk about the gaming part. Doom has been in the market for a while but I didn't get my hands on it until 96 when I got my first PC. Duke Nukem just came out as well and both games were on floppy disks! In 1998 I received what is called my foundation of PC gaming...Half-Life! This was the first true FPS I ever played other then Doom and Duke Nukem. I never truely thought of the older games as 3D cause this game was top of the line! It was so top of the line I struggled playing it the first 3 years I had it. I really wanted to get a true gaming experiance so at age 21 my father took me Las Vegas as a late birthday gift! We went to the Consumer Electronic Show and there I was in heaven! It was then I knew what i wanted to do in life and that was computer building. Not even a week after I came home from vegas I built my first gaming PC. This unlocked a lot of new things I could do in my gaming life. Later on that same year I went to my first LAN Party which was hosted by the guy that helped me build my first PC. He and some of the guys introduced me to many games such as Team Fortresss Classic and Counter-Strike. Then in 2003 my world was changed forever! I got into a space simulator called Freelancer and it was the first game I ever played with an organized clan of which I created! We were known as "Hellfire" and We played in a server called "Asylum 51" and they allowed all official clans to have their own ships and systems. We had the most unique ships and system that everyone was jealous of us. We were one of the top clans in the community! It was then in early 2006 when Guild Wars started to become popular and the community started to split apart. It was Guild Wars vs Freelancer and then in November of 2006 we went our separate ways and started a new community. The community itself has changed in names many times. Our UK members are called United in Battle and the US side is called Discovery Alliance. We are a multi gaming community that play many games off of many platforms. Discovery Alliance consists of the mature players based on the values of this particular one. (TOG) I am involved with another communities that are in a local stage but it's all a younger generation that doesn't understand what true gaming is all about. I may not own all the games or have the highest score in the world but I represent what a true gamer is. I don't let gaming control my life and I hope to be playing games when I am old and in a rest home somewhere and can tell my grandkids I was around when Video Games were in 4 bit and everything was blocky. Look at it now!
If you want to learn more about my gaming experiance I do have a RAPTR Account. It's simular to xfire but it tracks not only PC games but console as well. I do have XFIRE but it has been "merged" with raptr so all stats prior to that are accounted for. To see both check out:
