Default Old Noob....

Hi folks,

I'm Mick & from the UK.
Just taken early retirement from my regular job after working for them for 29yrs (& decided that I liked the look of Battlefield 3 & that it would be perfect as my 'waste of a few hours' fun time killer during part of the day.

So, I bought myself one of those Xbox 360 thingymies, battlefield 3, a set of ears & plunged in feet first (even without an instruction manual). I've never had a game console before, although I do enjoy the odd game on the computer - Sniper elite, medal of honor, medieval 2 etc.

Then I realised that being a noob on bf3 (look at me getting all techy), meant you're shot within minutes, and when schools over, you're shot twice as fast. Did I mention that there's no instruction manual......

I'm currently also at a distinct disadvantage as a) I'm old. b) I only have a 26" none HD TV. Now the 'being old' issue is being addressed by my finding out more info & joining this forum/website.
The 'TV' issue will be addressed in the next months with a 44" or 50" flat screen all singing all dancing fit for purpose gaming screen (that the wife will also be allowed to watch in the evening. (Don't tell her I said that).

I've other hobbies/interests which are RC heli flying/crashing/rebuilding & clay shooting. Work really did get in the way of my fun time .

Well that's my short intro & I'm looking forward to 'inter-facing' with other like minded folks who mainly want to 'kick ass' on bf3 & have some fun along the way.

Gday Mick,

Hope retirement is going well. I'm only new to OGF as well however I've played a bit of BF3. If you've time jump on to youtube and check out videos of other guys playing and any vids that talk about making you a better player. Try searching BF3 windshear and BF3 rivalgaming. These guys are good. Alot of vids show PC play but its all pretty much the same. If you happen to be logged in while I'm playing and you've got a mic I can join your party and we can go through some maps together. I'm on most nights late (after family duties). If you want to level up a bit faster play TDM. Don't worry if you get owned its just what happens. I got smashed the first few times but you eventually get your own back. Main thing is not to get frustrated. Enjoy what happens when someone knifes you because everyone gets done. i spend so much time laughing because there is always someone better than you. Anyway, hope this helps a bit and reply if you want to know anything else.

Cheers Dan,

For the sound advice & your willingness to help a complete noob.
I've enjoyed the joint games we've had so far & look forward to more of the same.

As stated, I'm at a large disadvantage at the mo with my small screne TV, makes it difficult to see where sqaud members are and the opposition!

I think I'll get a bit more serious when the new TV turns up & for now just use it as a learning curve.

Hopefully, if anyone else is in the same boat, we could squad up & learn/die together.

Mick
