Hi TOGers.

I'm a 33 year old gamer from Melbourne Australia. Computer games have been a passion for me since dad brought home our first Vic 20. We never really had consoles at home - dad used the home computer to word process, write training documents and dabble in programming and so could justify the expense over a "games machine". After the Vic 20 it was a Commodore SX-64 (possibly the most un-portable portable computer ever made) and then the transition to PCs starting with a handed down 386 system.

As such my nostalgia lies firmly rooted in the commodore/PC games universe. For Commodore it was games like Montezuma's Revenge, Space Trader, Bruce Lee and Boulderdash. DOS and early Windows saw me sink endless time into games like Civilization (and it's counterpart Colonization), Warlords, Dune, Ultima and UFO: Enemy Unknown. The last 15 years my favourites have been the Baldur's Gate series, Diablo 2, Starcraft and World of Warcraft.

What brings me here is that after 7 years on the Moonrunner server playing World of Warcraft, I'm cheating on it for the first time with SW:TOR (seven year itch I guess?). I've killed Deathwing on 3 toons now, am struggling to find enthusiasm about rolling a Panda any time soon, and my pre-order of Diablo 3 collector's edition doesn't look like it will appear on my doorstep anytime soon, so that (and the great reviews on SW:TOR) just made me think it's a good time to try something new.

Anyway, whilst running around Ord Mantell on The Jekk Jekk server in the last few days on my first toon (a smuggler called "Coinpurse") I've noticed a few helpful types sporting the guild name "The Older Gamers". I followed it up with a trip to the server forums where I found your details and it just seemed to be a great fit.

Anyhow, I hope I haven't broken the word limit for an app/into, but I'm looking forward to joining the community and hopefully getting a guild invite to a friendly crowd for my Star Wars MMO experience.
