Hello! im so happy to be here, i just wonder if there was a place like this, where old players may find a confortable home for their gaming experiences.

I play since i was a child, mi first console was the Mattel intellevision, and then i played a lot with doom and dukenukem3d.
Today i play when i have time, i've found a new game called Fallen Earth and i wish to apply to be a ToG member and join the guild.

Greetings to all ToG members and their relatives, i beg your pardon if you will find some mistaken in my english, im Italian and i try to improve my english.. so i hope you don't mind a lot!

Well..Im sure many of you had before the same feelings that i feel now.. in short.. Old but Gold!

We had our great adventure in this life, and since we all are here, this means that we all share the same hobby..

Hobby, Old but gold.. ToG is the natural way to continue to enjoy and grows our gaming side while continue to live our lives, but we just wish to find a better, more confortable place and, of course, the right people to share our hobby and our experience in gaming and related things.

About me.. i've to say a big thanks to this hobby, since it gaves me a lot of satisfactions in life, to improve myself, to help others, and even now, in my job.. i feel myself a "step-up" compared to people who still wonder how i may have such skills since i haven't a master degree in computer field eheh! .. aehm!..

My hobby begun when i was a child.. a mattel intellevision, Intellivision - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, owned by a rich friend of mine, just amazed me.. i wish to have also such a great console, but i cant since it used to cost a lot, so each time, i try to go to my friend, we used to study together and then.. of course.. we play!

Later.. i was able to have my first personal computer, the almighty zx81 spectrum "whoa!"..ZX Spectrum - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, i really enjoy it, and it was with it that i started to learn english ( i was 14 y.o.), when i used to play adventures, many of them, by the way, was text based, so i used to borrow my brother's english books to understand and play them..

Nothing compared to the introduction of the well-known Commodore 64 Commodore 64 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia that, im sure, many of you had the pleasure to own and to learn the famous b.a.s.i.c. language "load montezuma ,8 ,1".. and with it i litterally start to know more friends and share our knowledge about games and how to solve games as well tips&tricks.. you know..

So my life goes on, with friends, and more joined my life since we start to share the same hobby, and one day, thanks to computer gazette, we discover the almighty amiga 1000 Amiga 1000 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia , our gaming life turns in a way we never seens before.. i still remember my first game with it, The faery tale! The Faery Tale Adventure - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia finally a dream machine with superior graphics, sounds and well.. lot of new games! (thanks Paula, Demise..), no they were not girl, but the chips who sports the new feature this computer/console cross gave to us, and of course the compatibility to the commodore 64 games as well (go 64.. are you sure? yes)

Well all above seems like seconds but takes a lot of my life as the hobby we already have nowadays, and only those who see the revolution from a datasette to a floppy 3,1/2 may understand..

I still remember the fight between amiga 500, that i used to own (with 1 megs expansion loaded, of course!) and the Atari ST, when suddenly, somethings wonderful happens in the gaming scene.. with the introduction of the first graphic card for ibm machines done by 3DFXinteractive 3dfx Interactive - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia a voodoo graphics PCI graphic card with 4 megs of ram!!! we all start to look at pc's as the games next gen, and im sure you remeber well the mighty game TUROK, released in 1997!

but somethings still missing.. what really boost up gaming experience.. multiplayer!

John Carmack does the job..DOOM was the start of my multiplayer experience.. i still remember days and night with other friends play Doom cooperative trying to survive until the end.. and i believe no one still may give the same feelings as doom gave us those days.. (at least no other games that i remember have falling ceiling..), Doom gaves us the possibility to play together via cable ipx connections..

and from doom onwards.. all was changed.. computers games gave us the possibility to live virtual experiences that no one could have before, like to be part of a movie, or be free to flight a million dollars aircraft.. but what really matters is that all this gaming experience gave me a lot of knowledge about computers, Os, hardware and software, that many people acquire only with a master degree today..

Today, im sure, me as you are able to install hardwares, fix them, install Os, and do so many things that we are able to deal with this world.. yes, the same world that we used to dream about and our parents used to shout on us trying to give up from it.. since they didn't believe in our dreams.. and maybe the same parents, today, read emails with an ipad.. go figure!

Seems that i reach the end.. no.. it's every day a new start.. like now! well.. actually i've found fun in Fallen Earth, a post nuclear mmo game where you must survive scavenging, fighting and.. well.. all that fallout things you already knows.. i really wished to find a game like this, so while i try to learn and improve each aspect of the game (i like crafting!) i had the pleasure to meet one of your members, who sent me here to apply, so my wish is to be a member of ToG Fallen Earth guild, and also i wish to join your ventrillo server so i may also improve my english as well.. Old but Gold, and still running!
