Application for full membership
Hi all,
My name is Gavin and I’m looking to join the guild mainly for Guild Wars 2.
I’m currently on Henge of Denravi server, but would have no problem switching over to Yak’s Bend. My main character is well geared, with mostly Exotics and Rares. I was in a guild, but it had fizzled out over time, and I have been looking around for a new guild. I’ve been really enjoying WWW and would love to join a guild that has some players who participate on a regular basis. I’d be open for other grouping activities like dungeons and fractals, both of which I haven’t really bothered with, as well as just doing events and leveling. As far as gaming history, it’s quite long so I’ll shorten it down to some basics.
I’ve been playing video games since the start really. First few games were classics like Pong and Space Invaders, and spent many days in arcades, which seems to have gone these days. As for consoles I have had both Atari’s, Nintendo NES, Sega Genesis (along with Sega CD), a Panasonic console (probably one of the few that had one) , Playstation 1 and 2, Wii, and Xbox 360. I’ve also been playing video games on computers since my Apple IIe. I really enjoy FPS games, RPG games, RTS games, and MMO’s. Here’s the off the top of my head MMO list:
1. Shadowbane – helped with Beta as well as was the Mac Advocate for the game
2. World of Warcraft – Also played beta and all the way into Burning Crusade
3. Age of Conan – Played regular as well as ROG beta with the developers
4. Pirates of the Burning Sea
5. Rift – played beta as well as release; dropped after too many changes to main class each update
6. The Secret World – played beta, but couldn’t see spending money on it
7. Star Wars: The Old Republic – also played beta, but couldn’t see spending money on it
8. Lord of the Rings Online – played the free to play but wasn’t too impressed.
So that’s the bit of history. So, last part, why this guild? Well, I remember when Guild Wars 2 beta was going on, and I read a post from someone who I believe was with the guild. They were talking about a guild for older gamers, where most of the gamers were 30+, and could understand people having families, schedules, and other such nonsense, which might impact game time. That sounded good to me, and made a point to look for that guild. Then, when I got invited to a big guild with lots of members, I was hoping that I would find some people who meshed in terms of schedules and play style. Alas, that rarely happened, and as the guild started to dwindle I just went solo, and that’s where I am now. Also, when going through the guild recruitment posts, I found the TOG one and loved that the person who posted it has Baldrick as his avatar. I’m a big fan of the Black Adder series, as well as Mr. Bean, Monty Python, IT Crowd, Black Books, Spaced, etc etc.
Anyway, hope I make the cut and hope to be playing with everyone real soon.
