Smile Hello World

Good Morning & Hello, how are you today?

I am a new member, just registered. This is my hello post. First to the required content.
  1. What games are you currently play/looking to play with TOG?
  2. What was the first machine you played games on or pen and paper game you played?
  3. Why do you want to join TOG?
  4. Tell us about yourself or anything else you'd like to share.

I am a Guild Master of a World of Warcraft guild. Originally founded in March of 2007, I have been doing this for quite a while. We have grown from 10 members to the maximum size of 1000 members, and now we're about 350. I've been the GM continuously since its exception.

In school, Ancient History as I remember, I used to play dots with the person sitting behind me. My first computer was a Sinclair ZX-81, and we had the 16MB expansion module, so it was awesome! My first UNIX server was a PLEXUS System 3. These are all early 80s if I remember right. As I was a UNIX guy, my first UNIX game was rogue. Then I got into hunt for a while, which was a multi user shooting game. Then UltraRogue. I never really got into hack. I speak C (a computer language that UNIX is written in) fluently, and at college we had source code, so I have to admit sometimes in the above games I cheated. I only got caught once however

It would be nice to have a place to communicate with other mature GM's who have experience with MMORPG's, dealing with problems, and might have ideas that i haven't thought of yet on how to run guilds.

I'm an Ordained Minister & Wedding Photographer. I Shoot weddings, and sometimes perform them on weekends with my wife. I work full time doing computer networking, UNIX/LINUX Administration and computer security. I was the sound man for both a Jewish Synagogue and Christian Church for 7 years. I am a webmaster.

Recently I added up all the money I was spending on Mumble Servers, Vent Servers, web hosting, and stuff, and realized it would be cheaper to just buy some servers on the internet and do it all myself. So I have a west coast & east coast server (and a backup in london), and am presently migrating all my web sites, dns hosting, and voice chat services to them. My next phase is going to be marketing other guilds on my server to share the cost of them with me, and I will give them mumble servers We'll see how it goes.
