Hello all,
35yo from Perth, West Oz, who thinks that maybe this will be a much better place to get back into online gaming then just diving into the pit of people that this site wants to avoid.
I used to play a fair bit amongst friends back in the day, and spent many an evening running around an apartment level in Duke Nukem. Heck, does anyone remember Net Trek running on Appletalk? I played a fair bit of that too.
I used to go to a local LAN group of around 20 that was around my age and was a good group to play with, but that has sadly died and now the only LANs I know of around Perth are the huge jobs swimming with tar..err, younger folk. We'd play a lot of BF1942 there and I'm still up for that.
I dropped out for a couple of years as I was only running onboard graphics with my PC, and BF1942 on low settings was about all it could handle, and until recently hadn't upgraded to better video for one reason or another. But I've just got myself a almost brand spanking new 6800GT so I look forward to actually being able to play something again.
I'm interested in BF1942 because that's what I know, but I want to try BF2 and CoD. Some of my favourite multiplayer games of yore like Total Annihiliation, Red Alert and NOLF now seem to be just too passe for today, which is a shame because their playability is still high, but you get that. I'd also love to get back into flight simming, Falcon 4 in particular, but that's probably a bit more specialised then a typical FPS.
So there you go. Am I in? Pretty please?
