TOG - The Older Gamers

I was referred to this website some time ago by a member of TOG I had a lengthy discussion with on World of Warcraft Silverhand Server. I've had alot of trouble finding players with an acceptable maturity level to play with, and despite my 25 birthday not being til April, I was told it would be worth putting in an app.

I'm a veteran of the USAF (ammo troop), single, and recently decided to start work on another degree. I was never stationed anywhere particularly exciting (edwards AFB in the southern california Mojhave desert and a few bases in Texas, in case anyone is wondering) I've been a computer technition for a few years after I got my honorable discharge, but recently abandoned my job in an effort to focus on school more.

I'm actually trying to play games a little less and work on my personal projects for designing some buildings, and maybe get back to composing some more. I still need to finish building my gun for UT2004 as well. The model is about 50% done, but still needs to be textured and coded. Despite my degree in digital media design, I'm struggling with some of the programs I've not used in years.

I play Battlefield 2 pretty often, and fancy myself to be a pretty good medic and commander. I also love flying the helos, and doing nape of earth insertions.
I used to play World of Warcraft, but due to regular harrassment, hate, and childishness from many players, I decided to not renew my account. Not being able to find a party for MC/BWL and PVP because you're feral just isn't fun. Last I checked, I was still in the top 50 for lifetime kills on Silverhand. If I can find a good group, I'd be interested in getting back in WOW.
I also play UT 2004, although since my last reformat, I've yet to reinstall it.

Games I currently like most to play:

Battlefield 2
Warcraft III
UT2004

I really want to find a group of folks who wanna work together to master the game(s)... particularly a good squad for BF2 that focuses on tactics and uses VoIP.

I read the FAQ and agreement thingie and had no qualms with either... well, cept the age part. I was told exceptions are sometimes made though.

Hey buddy and welcome to the boards!! You're obviously aware that not being 25 YET will block you from getting into TOG. It's not far down the line to be honest.

I'm picking up BF2 hopefully enxt week, so look forward to kicking some ass with ya

Thanks for your applications TheInternal. Your 25th b-day is only a few months away.

Please (and we mean PLEASE) come back and repost into this thread and declare that you have passed that milestone. TOG always welcomes members with open arms. Plus, the north American TOG's are a hoot as well!

You sound like a good guy, TheInternal, so it's good to have you here. Hang about the public areas over the next couple months and get to know us and we'll get to know you. Then we can properly TOGgify you when you have your B-day. Feel free to look us up when we're playing online and game with us. Gamemonitor and serverspy are good sites for finding folks.

I'm a BF2er and big UT fan. We certainly need more players for both games here in the states. There are also roughly 1.3 million WOW players here to get you're MMORPG fix with. Looking forward to shooting the enemy with you.

no offense, but being unflexible on the age thing comes across as a rather elitist mentality. Elitism = MASSIVE turn off. Ran into to many 12 year old in most games that are all about the elitst mentalities and it is one of the few peevs I've developed. I've also ran into plenty of 40 year olds who would not qualify as "mature" gamers, in my opinion. I think intellectual/emotional age is much more important than physical age.

I understand your frustration mate, but the "age thing" & reading & abiding by our FAQ's & AUP are our only entry requirements into TOG. reapply when you're 25 & you'll be in like Flynn. See you then

I agree, don't take it personal.....it's one of the only rules....hope you hang around the public forums, and return later....see you in a bF2 server...

It's an imperfect solution to the problem but the most workable one. There really is no good way to filter out immaturity on a scale as big as this one (over 7,000 members) so we go with age. Some good ones are missed and some childish ones are admitted but you can't really do an exhaustive psychological profile on anyone who wants in. Thus the age requirement. Sorry if it's off-putting.
