Hello all! I'd like to join you. My name is Elizabeth, I'm (well) over 25, and I've read and agree with the AUP and FAQ.
My first gaming experience was Pong (on our TV set) 30+ years ago. I also played Rogue & Zork in college (on a VAX PDP 11/70), and went on to dabble with Infocom type text adventures in the 80s. During the 90s I pretty much dropped computer gaming in favor of career (computer programmer & tech writer). The new millennium sees me "retired" to raise my two kids, now ages 3 & 7. My spouse is most definitely NOT a gamer and I don't have any real life friends who are, either; that's one of the main reasons I was so happy to find TOG.
I'm just getting back into gaming, and have spent the last few months randomly trying out a few things trying so see what I might like to spend time with. I pretty much only have the time to commit to one.
I've tried the text-based Achaea, Lusternia, and Discworld; they're pleasant and have a more mature crowd than I expected, as well as an intriguing story line and active RPing. I wondered if games such as Everquest and WoW could offer that much, plus graphics. Tried Everquest, but it seems to be empty of newbies. I've ordered a copy of WoW and will try committing to that for a while and see how it goes. I'm looking forward to getting my copy in the mail by next week some time.
I'd appreciate any suggestions for what server/guild to join in WoW. I'm looking for mature gamers to hang with, but I can't commit much time to group playing, as I have family that puts me on-call pretty much all the time. Are there guilds that welcome people who aren't much into group playing? I was thinking of being a druid because I understand that's a reasonable choice for a solo player.
Sorry this is so long, and probably a lot of what I said belongs on another forum. But I'm glad I found you guys and look forward to getting to know you all better.
