TOG - The Older Gamers

After recently starting a new game, I used a search engine to find some information about a particular aspect of it and came across one really good page that explained things properly. As I'd bookmarked it, I later went back to rummage around the site to see if there was anything else interesting. The site was of course the TOG one and it was refreshing to find so many helpful (and amusing) posts that didn't either assume that I was familiar with every algorithm of the game, or contain "pwnd u nub" and enough exclamation marks to make a picket fence around a farm.

Having started computer games on a Sinclair Spectrum, the first online games I played were text only. Being old enough to remember being impressed with the lightning speed when my connection went up to 1200bps, I'm well above the required TOG age.

My MMORPG experience started with beta testing of Legend of Mir in 1999 and has included many oldies but goodies such as Dark Ages and Asheron's Call. At the moment I play World of Warcraft, which I started during American beta in 2004 (although I've since moved to the European servers), and Guild Wars, which I started about a fortnight ago.

Kent in England is where I live but I end up in the company of players from many timezones, as my work has no fixed hours, so I come and go at odd times of the day and night.
