Application
Gidday. I'd like to apply to become a member of TOG.
Firstly, I can confirm that I am over 25 years of age (37, but it hurts to admit that) and I have read both the AUP and FAQ forums.
I heard about TOG from a friend that was in the same guild as me on the Proudmore server of World of Warcraft. I have found that some of the people I was play with are fairly immature and have a different attitude to gaming than I do, causing increasingly high levels of frustration and defeating what I believe the point of playing a game is - to have fun. WoW is my current game of choice but I have in the past enjoyed Day of Defeat, Battlefield 1942 and Vietcong. (I don't mind the odd first person shooter. Aggression issues I hear you ask?)
I work for a privately owned health company, a job which can be both time consuming and stressful. I use gaming as a release and an opportunity to have a chat to people. I tend to be fairly social in the game as opposed to fiercely competitive, which doesn't always sit well with some gamers.
As a result of my job I can be overseas for several months at a time, often in places with limited or no internet access. (By the way, I'm based in Brisbane.) Consequently my game playing can be a bit sporadic, yet ANOTHER thing which doesn't sit well with some gamers. (Thes list is getting longer.) I would ask that people be patient with me - I may make a commitment to be online but have to cancel due to the job.
So there you are. Just another older gamer looking for other people with similar attitudes to have a bit of fun with. (Just as a sideline for the person who wrote the web page, I was a BIG fan of the C64, particularly BoulderDash and Raid Over Moscow. Would love to find where you can get a C64 simulator.) I look forward to getting to know you all and hope you enjoy having me as part of the team.
Frog (Real name Mark, but I only answer to Frog - it's a long story.)
