TOG - The Older Gamers

Hi there. My real name is Joe, I'm 29, and I am a gamer. I stumbled across this place by following a link from the GUComics forums. I'm really glad I found it, seems right up my alley. I have read the AUP and the FAQ and everything seems in order.

A little about myself:

I'm 29, like I said, and i live in Columbus, OH. I was born and raised in Tampa, FL, but my wife just HAD to be from somewhere cold

I work in Information Security currently, and I really enjoy it. My true love, however, lies in gaming.

I've been playing games since around 1985, on the Atari, then later on an Apple IIe, Nintendo, Commodore, etc. I've played just about every type of game imaginable.

I used to run my own BBS back in 1991, which started my love of online gaming with games like MajorMUD, Tradewars2002, and many other multiplayer Door games. I also played on The Sierra Network (later called INN), playing Red Baron competitively and playing Shadows of Yserbius. I also played Neverwinter Nights on AOL. Those were my humble beginnings, since then I've run my own MUD, as well as played hundreds of different kinds. I've played every MMO that has had a major North American release, and some that haven't. I started with Meridian 59, and moved on to Ultima Online in 1997. Since then I've played Everquest, Everquest 2, Asheron's Call, Dark Age of Camelot, Shadowbane, Horizons, EVE Online, Anarchy Online, Planetside, Star Wars Galaxies, Neocron, Lineage 2, D&D Online, World of Warcraft, and a host of others that are slipping my mind at the moment, but many of these I played from the first day of release.

I've also played lots of FPS games, I'm just no good at them, although I used to be a pretty good Quake III player. Currently I play a bit of Counterstrike:Source.

I've owned every console that has been released in North America, and played hundreds, probably thousands of different games across the platforms. I currently have an XBOX 360 and I'm a pretty active XBOX Live player.

I am really excited about this community of older, more mature gamers. I currently have active accounts in WoW and EQ2. I've got a pretty steady guild in WoW, but I'm just kind of wandering aimlessly in EQ2, and I am thinking of getting back into EVE Online. So I suppose I should start there.

I suffer from gaming A.D.D, so I like to have a lot of options available to me. I've had as many as 5 different MMO subscriptions at once to quench my thirst for what I like to call "Options in Gaming". In actuality though, I just find myself in a mood to play something different just about every day. This community has its hands in just about every game out there, so it should satisfy my need for "options".

I've just discovered that I'm rambling, ummm, sorry about that. So, in conclusion, I'd like to join TOG please
