I've now been playing World of Warcraft for almost a year and in that time I've left all guilds bar one which disbanded whilst I was on a brief hiatus from the game.
Let's see now... I originally was a member of an Apple fan website guild. Had a really cool name, Army of Tau, which was actually a sortof play on the website's shortened name "ATAU", which stood for Apple Talk AUstralia.
I left them because the guild leader rolled need on Whitemane's Chapeau from me after I'd expressely joined the Scarlet Monastery run he was on with the sole desire and expectation that should it drop, I would get it.
I found that... disheartening.
Then I joined up with Knights of Exile. Lovely bunch of people. Unfortunately the guild leader felt that guild relations with other guilds was more important than his guildies; after a demand that I apologize to an allied guild member for leaving his raid after he continually lead us to wipe after wipe after wipe, I decided that since there was nothing I should apologize for, I would rather leave the guild than be forced to apologize.
Hmm... who was next? I think I started my own guild in there somewhere. Actually, that was before Knights of Exile now that I recall. I'm not cut out to be a guild leader; it requires patience, understanding and diplomacy.
Then I asked a friend if I could get a recommendation to join Redefinition. I made an app, ran with the guild master a couple of times, felt I developed a decent rapport with the guild class leader (I only had my 60 warlock at the time) and yet... two weeks went by and no invite.
Five minutes after I accepted an invite to The Demonic Reich from another friend in that guild, I got the invite to Redefinition... sigh, isn't that always the way? And boy, was that ever a regrettable decision!
The less said about my time in The Demonic Reich the better. My momma always said, if yah ain't got nuttin good to say 'bout someone, don't say anytin' at awl!
Then I went guildless for awhile. PUG'd a lot. I actually enjoy PUG's 'cause I tend to find I meet most of the people I have on my friends list from PUG's. Of course, there is a reason I have Extended Ignore as one of my add-ons too and that's also from PUG'ing a lot
Hmm... ah yes, that's when I rejoined Knights of Exile. I missed them, and still do. Everything was going dandy until they merged with Shadow Legion. Curse the day! Not only did it bring in a host of people I didn't gel well with, but it also meant choosing a new tabard. Designs were submitted and voted on. Despite the majority of the guild not voting for the chosen design, and despite the design being an insult to the guild members, the white bunny rabbit on a pink background with white frilly sides was chosen.
And so after a /gquit I ran guildless again for awhile until I met one of my favourite WoW people of all time: Affinity. She invited me to The Scar of Windrunner which was full of lovely people too... sadly, after a few weeks of absence from WoW, I came back online to find that the guild had disbanded due to internal politics. I was very disappointed.
And last but not least, I joined Unsorted Files. Some good people in there but I'm the type who likes to joke around a bit and poke fun at people (and myself) all in the name of jocularity and comraderie. After being 'told off' for being 'negative', I figured that obviously the guild leader had no sense of humour and so I decided to leave there as well.
So, as you can see, you probably don't want me to join Thorns of Gold at all. I'm a horrible person. I think I smell too. Probably because of all the chinese lunchbox specials I eat. Must be the ginger.
Oh, and now the boring bits. I'm almost 31, I own and operate my own video rentals store seven friggin days a week, and sit and play WoW on my 17" iMac for most of those seven days because, dammit, I'm the boss!
Although on WoW for most of the day, realistically I can only group or raid after work finishes which for Sun-Thur is 9pm and Fri-Sat 10pm. Having said that, most nights it dies down from around 8pm onwards so I can technically 'get away' with playing at work
That's about it, really. Nutshell complete.
