Default Application - Guild Wars

Hi, Stumbled across your site and like what you're doing. I've played a little online (mostly MUDs - low tech, text based) but I always loose intrest due to the abussive and childish behavior of the typically "younger" gamers. From everything that's been described, finding a group of mature, like minded gamers who want to have fun I think would make gaming online a much better experience. Ok, some specifics...

I'm 35 years old (May 30, 1971), raised in California but live in New Mexico. I'm an Environmental Engineer (not Environmentalist - I don't hug trees). I play usually in the evenings once the kids are settled. Besides MUDs I played Starcraft on-line a bit, beyond that I couldn't bring myself to pay a monthly or hourly fee (although I have always loved Blizzards games, I just couldn't commit to WOW). My father (65 years old) just started gaming the last couple of years and got hooked on Morrowind (Elder Scrolls III), he started bugging me to find a game we could play together so we decided to give GW a try and so far we are hooked. We are new to the game, a few weeks, and we only have Factions. We both have level 18 or 19 main characters and have tried some others and brought them to mid-teen levels. I'm not looking for PvP or GvG (yet - I have alot of learning to do), but potentially having some people to get advice from, do some co-op PvE and eventually become an asset and help others is what I'm interested in. I do want to find a good guild before my dad gets roped into a bad one that ruins the game for him, he plays alot (he's retired). So I wanted to check you guys out before I drag him along.

I've read your AUP and FAQ along with a number of sticky's. I'm mostly an independent kind of gamer but that's always been due to aprehension not becuase I'm anti-social, I am enjoying the game and am capable with my henchmen but a trusted group to chat with, trade with and game with sounds like it would add alot. Sorry for the long post. If anyone's is around look me up (Aquilus Vulpes) or say hi to my pop (Santerra Vulpes), he may not respond...he's new to talking to people, I have a really hard time getting his attention. We play on the American server, he's in California. Thanks.

Brian
