Ok, I read the AUP and FAQ. Great stuff, I am on board. I am 44 years old, and I think Australians (and New Zealanders) are awesome! Awesome gamers, anyway - that has been my only exposure to them. My first MMORPG was Asheron's Call 8 or 9 years ago, and I fell in with some Australians there. Terrific. (I am Canadian, incidentally.) Hopefully that is a sufficient amount of sucking up. Moving on...
I am currently waiting for LOTRO to come out, and I saw your name while I was lurking my way through the Kinship forum. I have played Asheron's Call, Dark Age of Camelot, Star Wars Galaxies, Guild Wars and World of Warcraft. I still have an active WoW account, but was unable to find a guild I liked so I stopped logging in and rotating my mail<g>. I also tried Guild Wars and really didn't like it at all. It seems to be enormously popular, so I can't help thinking that I must have missed the point somehow. I was constantly lost, had trouble following the main quest threads, found levelling up and questing really hard, couldn't get good gear or loot, hated having access to only a few spells at a time, etc. I also had an underpowered PC (took care of that<g>), which no doubt coloured the experience as well.
The reason I tell you all this is that I am interested in giving GW another look while I am waiting for LOTRO. I might also want to play some WoW if there is any guild support for under-60 players. (That had been the issue with my other guilds.) And if anyone has a suggestion for another fine RPG to while away the remnants of the pre-LOTRO epoch, I would be interested to hear it. See you all online, I hope.
Warin
P.S. Warin is the name of my first and only pen-and-paper D&D character. That was about 25 years ago. Yeesh....
