Hola! Como esta?
I'm a 37 year old gamer who got hooked the day my dad brought home Pong when I was 5. While I do consider myself a retro-gamer, I also can't help but feel giddy about what games will look like in another 30 years (and I'm old enough to be retired and play them all day)
My main interest in joining this guild is simply to have companions to play with, no matter which game I choose to play: past, present and future. I still have an account on WoW, but have taken a hiatus. I'm thinking about starting back up again if I can find a decent guild. My wife, Mydnight Darkfyre, just joined this guild yesterday and told me about it. It sounded nifty, so here I am.
Other games I'm interested in playing with this guild:
Battlefield (1947 or BF2). I've been thinking about getting BF2042, but won't unless I know some others are playing it.
Guild Wars: I bought the original game and played it for a few hours. I liked the game, but couldn't find anyone to play with that fit my personality so I gave it up for a while. When I went back, no one wanted to help out a n00b. I'd really like to play that one with a good group that is willing to be patient with me while I learn.
Eve Online: I played the trial and loved it, but again, couldn't find a guild that I was interested in so didn't subscribe after my free month. I wouldn't mind dumping WoW altogether and playing Eve if I found a good guild (i.e. this one).
Neverwinter Nights 2: Don't really need a guild, but MP NW2 sounds fun.
Unreal Tournament 2004 (and 2007 when it comes out): Yes, I still play this occasionally. What can I say...I prefer UT to Quake.
More or less any game that isn't an RTS...I've never really gotten into them much, probably because I suck at all of them.
I've read the AUP, FAQ, Forum Guidelines and pretty much everything else on this site before making this post and agree to everything.
Other various snippets about me:
- I'm a professional geek working as a "Monitoring and Automation Engineer" for a large online stock trading company. At least that's what my title says. Basically, I help design and implement the tools that our operations staff uses to monitor the website.
- As previously stated, I have a gamer wife (Mydnight Darkfyre) and together, we have a 15-year old daughter that also games, although she's more interested in boys at this point *sigh*. Our household has the following game systems: Atari 2600, NES, SNES, Genesis, PS1, Dreamcast, PS2, Gamecube, Xbox, Xbox360, Wii, 3 Gamboy Color, 3 Gameboy Advanced, 3 DS, 2 PSPs, a GP2X (google it...it rocks), 6 computers and a hand-built (by me) stand-up Arcade Machine.
- I like to speak broken Spanish (took 4 years of the stuff in HS/college way back in the day and still remember some of it).
- I don't seem to be a "typical gamer", and I'm pretty proud of that fact, considering the typical gamer seems to be fairly rude and obnoxious these days. I'm a very courteous and kind player, always willing to help out others when needed, and I don't like to get involved in "drama" in any way. I treat everyone with respect unless they prove to me personally that they don't deserve it, then I just ignore them.
Sorry for the long post, but you asked
Thanks for your consideration.
