TOG Application

Hi All,

I would like to apply for The Older Gamers. I've heard some great things about you guys (and gals!) and would like to formally join up. I must admit I have been a silent viewer of the forums for about a year or so, particularly in the MMORPG forums.

I guess I should get the formalities out of the way and state I have read and agree to the AUP, FAQ and forum/server guidelines. And I must say that unlike some others I've read in the past, these weren't too verbose or painful

And regarding my age, I am a youthful 39 years young! Nice to be saying that amongst a group of people who won't necessarily think of me as a father figure. Oh the reactions I've gotten when I've told some younger players that!

I am a veteran of the "classic" games including Pong (on a black and white console TV no less), Space Invaders, Pacman and virtually everything that came afterward. I was a huge fan of Bubble Bobble for those that remember that arcade classic. I never had a C64 I confess, but I had a Vic 20! I think the only game worth playing on that machine was Frogger....which had to be loaded from a cassette tape. Yeah...now I am really dating myself! I also enjoyed (though not on the Vic 20) computerized and live chess.

My first exposure to an MMORPG (before it was called MMORPG) was Ultima Online which I played religiously for about 2.5 years. It was also where I met one of my best friends to this day, a TOG member himself, Turk. After Ultima Online I tried various games including Everquest, SWG, Anarchy Online, CoH, Guild Wars, D&D Online, Horizons and WoW. And probably a few others I am forgetting to mention. In short I am a die hard MMORPG'er. Currently I am playing WoW and have been since shortly after release. I am VERY much looking forward to the official release of Vanguard: Saga of Heroes within the next few weeks.

I am married to an incredibly understanding lady who graciously allows me (and encourages) all the gaming time I need. Her "vice" is being an avid phone talker. So all in all we spend almost equal amounts of time doing what we enjoy. My "children" consist of 2 cats and a dog.

I tend to play in the evenings (Canadian Pacific Time), and quite a bit on weekends.

I look forward to getting to know lots of people in TOG and hooking up in Vanguard (if not before that).

Welcome to TOG Buddy, you have fulfilled the initial requirements and in time an admin will be along to review and approve the application. You will then be free to find the forum of your game of choice.
TOG Has a very large contingent in the WoW/GW/EVE type divisions, I am sure you will easily find a place to call home, or base, or forward raiding set-up type area, maybe even a 'suitable fallback option'...
