TOG - The Older Gamers

Greetings to everyone!

First off, let me fulfill the requirement of stating that I have read the Acceptable Use Policy and FAQ, and I agree to abide by both as well as the forum guidelines. I have to admit, this is one of the first guild-type message boards on which I have seen an AUP, and I think that is well thought out.

A bit about myself and my beliefs. I'm a married 28 (29 in less than a month) year old software developer and applications engineer for the leading Bluetooth company worldwide. I live in the US, in the Dallas area to be precise. My wife and my job keep me very busy, but I enjoy relaxing most evenings with an hour or two of game time. Gaming gives me time to relax while still using my brain, unlike spacing out in front of the tv!

With regard to gaming, you name it, I've played it. I've tried most of the MMOs out there, and have played many of them for extended periods of time. I own several consoles which I fire up from time to time, and play a healthy dose of single player games on the PC. From memory, some of the MMOs I've played are EQ, EQ2, DAoC, WoW, AC, AC2, Earth and Beyond, EVE, Shadowbane, SWG, AO, Horizons... I'm sure I'm forgetting a couple, but you get the idea I'm sure.

I have a very rich life, and I intend to keep it that way. I view a game, any game, as a nice hobby that can fit into that life, but not something that should dominate it. Sure I like getting new and great equipment as much as the next guy, but it is not the be-all-end-all of gaming for me. The real fun for me comes in seeing the content and experiencing the game, not trying to "win".

I love to converse and laugh. Joking and laughing in a guild of like minded adults is something that is light and refreshing, and makes everything not seem so serious. Sometimes I believe that some people need to take a step back and laugh, just to break their intensity!
