Introducing Brutal Frank
Hi,
first the formalities:
1. I am (way) over 25 years of age.
2. I have read and accept the AUP & FAQ
3. I have read and accept the forum/server guidelines.
And now the introduction.
I'm an older male gamer, born and raised in Winnipeg Canada, who grew up playing Strategy &Tactics games with a leavening of Diplomacy. Somewhere along the way D&D entered my world and I more or less shifted to role-playing.
Have played a lot of RPGs; Call of Cthulhu, Runequest (/Glorantha), DragonQuest, Universe, umm lots more that showed up and left stage left. Anyone remember Bunnies & Burrows?
To be honest, was quite content with paper-base gaming but then globalisation struck and scattered our group to the 4 corners of the globe and that pretty much put an end to that phase.
So now I'm in Singapore, got married and had two kids, all of which kind of precludes starting a new game group, never mind that table top gaming is not that popular in Singapore.
So I started playing online. Was a member of Runescape for a while but most recently have been playing Guild Wars, which I quite enjoy. Also do a bit of PBeM (Glorantha: Hero Wars) which is more of a story telling kind of game. Also enjoy a game of LaserSquadNemesis once in a while. A game which is well worth checking out if you want to try something a little different. Turn-based squad level play. Very tactical. However, as mentioned, mostly Guild Wars these days.
I'm actually interested in joining a ToG Guild Wars Guild. I currently belong to a small but very nice guild but unfortunately, most of the members are North American so there is never many people around when I log on. Hopefully, one of the ToG Guild is more active during the late evenings Singapore time (roughly GMT 14:00, Temple of Older Gamers perhaps?). I currently play on the North American Servers but could easily switch if that's more convenient.
Guess that's about it for now. Better get back to my marking. Did I mention that I'm a teacher? Hope it doesn't count against me. ; )
Later

PS BF name descended from a Call of Cthulhu character, a hockey player from Saskatchewan (easier to pronounce if you sneeze as you read it), who met an ignomious end in African when he 'saw to much' or more specifically, he 'saw something that ate him too much' but that's a pretty common ending for Call of Cthulhu I guess.
