So does Steam? I do not mind, for my personal details are not of much value. As in, do not really hide anything on my PC that I would not share. (Use my iphone and ipad for that kinda stuff)

So, snoop away EA, DICE, Steam, Google, Microsoft, Apple, etc... - nothing worth publishing on Wikileaks.

I am kinda of the same opinion. I don't do anything suspect, so don't care who knows what about me. If it is used for marketing...? well then pfft who cares.

You CAN be too paranoid. But being paranoid doesn't make you wrong necessarily...

Tough call, that. Unless I have door to door salesmen aiming specific products at me, I'm fine with it.
I'd prefer cheaper pricing because of it though, as supposedly it would cut down on pirate versions.. oh, yeah right hah.

If you sync/backup your iphone/ipad with your PC, then that data is also on your PC and now subject to EA's snooping. The main issue with that clause is that it means they can look at anything on your PC without even letting you know what's going on. They probably never would, but that clauses leaves a lot of holes and gives them much longer fingers than they ought to need to run a gaming service.

Read that the other day too. I'm wondering to what extent the software snoops your machine. I run my work desktop on a virtual machine which contains confidential information - if it also has the potential to snoop your network..

I'm sure they're not feverishly collecting information from millions of desktops and pawing through it, all the same, how about leaving out clauses that allow you to do just that, legally.

Actually they (Valve, Steam) do.

Seems to me that this is a storm in a teacup. And has only been made an "issue" because it (Origin) is an EA product.

What exactly is the point you are trying to convey here?

Steam is to Valve as Origin is to EA ...
