When filters are Evil

Posted 8th July 2009 at 01:10 AM by Ashlann (Ashlann's Basket)

I work for a rather prominent Australian business largely involved in the medical field. They have very strict guidelines about internet usage, and endless 'Standard Operating Procedures' that outline these rules. IE is the browser supplied to us on all PCs, and very aggressive filters monitor our activities.

However, about 2 years ago I did something rather clever. No executable can be run without sysadmin rights. Somehow they overlooked applying this rule to our 'My Documents' folder...

Retro Console Collecting - Part XII (Schizo Resurrects a Console From the Dead)

Posted 12th October 2013 at 10:25 AM by Schizo (Retro Console Collecting)

Welcome back for yet another installation of Retro Console Collecting - the blog that promises updates, and never delivers!

In my defense, I'll contend that I'm faster at posting blogs than Congress is at passing a budget! Oh hey, did I just make a political joke? I must really be scraping the bottom of the barrel here.

Anyway, for those of you who are long time readers (and haven't hung yourselves yet), you may remember a few years back I managed to win an Ebay auction...

Wurm Online, a new passion

Most of my gaming life I've been a one game person.. One game at a time, I mean. And now in my late 30's I'm no different from early 20's.

If it's an engaging and submersive game, it can keep me going for years. Like Diablo II or Ultima Online. The times in between was filled with brief interludes (except for a 5 year black hole created by WoW) with short term but VERY enjoyable games like Dungeon...

Hands

Posted 13th October 2013 at 10:40 AM by Ebonytears

They say you don't know what you've got until it's gone. I think in many ways that is very true. Take for instance your hands. Look at them. 5 fingers all meeting at a fleshy palm attatched to your arm by a wrist. Most of us don't really pay attention to them at all. We don't take the time to care for them, some of us might rub some cream into them or spend time on the nails but the actual hand itself is pretty much ignored.

Now, while looking at your hands imagine if you can't...
