No matter how much of a hurry you are in. It just makes me so mad because my client is unlikely to spend more on IT for stuff they need, because he paid so much for that stupid box. It goes really slow for a quad core too, probably because of the mobo. I would take them to small claims court just on principal.

I recently started working for an old IT client again. In my absents the machine we call the server died. This is a small business 4 PC's and we only call it the server because it holds the Access data backend. It is an XP machine . Ok so the previous IT firm replaced the server box with a huge black case , and the parts below:

ASUS P5KPL-CM
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q9450 @ 2.66GHz $363
Intel(R) G33/G31 Express Chipset Family (128 MB)
2x2GB GeIL CL5-5-5 DDR2 1066
Promise FastTrak TX2650 Controller $170
2x500Gb 7200RPM HDD

My problem is that I can not for the life of me work out why you would sell someone that mobo? Its specs are:
- Intel LGA775 Platform
- 45nm CPU ready
- Intel G31/ICH7 Chipset
- FSB 1600(O.C.)/1333/1066/800
- Dual-Channel DDR2 1066(O.C*)/800/667
- PCI Express x16
- PCIe Gb Lan
- 4x SATA 3Gb/s
- 8 CH HD audio
- EZ Flash2 & Crashfree BIOS3

It sells for $80. Now why would you use a micro ATX mobo with shitty graphics and an ICH7 chipset no RAID then put a $170 RAID card on it just to run RAID1 mirror.

They also supplied 2 x Seagate 500Gb USB extenal drives for backup when they could have supplied a mobo with eSATA and an eSATA dock which would have made backups 3x faster.

They also say that they put the old PC in the bin without asking or telling the owner. The memory and HDD's could have been used in the other PC's.

I priced out the parts at $1200 they charged $2100 + $1100 labour to set it all up. I feel that my client has been royally ripped off! What do you think?
