Computers and Children

Posted 17th November 2010 at 10:28 AM by Rage

I remember when I was younger, watching a 2year old get on her dad's computer, start it up, go into windows, load the game she was after and start playing. I was pretty impressed with her computer skills at such a young age and I always thought that I'd like my children to be very computer literate. Both of my children have shown very little interest in the computer until recently and now, they can pilot it even in ways I've never shown them. They just learn things so quickly. But how young is too...

Talera vs The Children

Posted 16th November 2010 at 01:52 PM by Talera

There is always something disturbing about the face of innocence portrayed as evil. Seeing such a pure icon engaging in such acts with a cold look on their normally beautiful face can get the best of us. To me this is what makes things such as the Angels in Dr Who and evil children in movies so disturbing to us. We may not be scared, but it makes us feel uncomfortable and ill at ease to watch.

So I went to watch ‘The Children’ on the weekend. It is a new (I say because it not long...

Option B is more serious, requiring surgery, but said surgery is keyhole done as a day operation and then it's all over. Both of these

Why Hand Held Games Make Me Feel Old

Posted 13th November 2010 at 05:38 AM by daranthered (Hello! I am Error.)

About two weeks back, I was going to meet some friends to see a movie. I, and another friend, arrived early, and as so often happens these days, out came the iPhone.

We played Battleship on my friend's iPhone. I mention this to illustrate two points; the first is that I rock at Battleship, I won four games to zip, and secondly, to show just how far portable gaming has come in my lifetime.

I still have my original Gameboy, and as of last night when I resurrected it with...

The "You live where?" Game Tax

Posted 12th November 2010 at 11:11 AM by Rage

The hype surrounding the recent release of Call of Duty: Black Ops has definitely paid off for Treyarch and Activision with the sales figures eclipsing last year's launch of Modern Warfare 2. The first day of sales totaled 5.6 million copies with a total $360 million. And I must admit, the hype has had me drawn in as well. Although I'm yet to part with my hard earned cash until the initial bugs have been ironed out, I have been on the look out for the best price available.

As a recent...
