Why Hand Held Games Make Me Feel Old

About two weeks back, I was going to meet some friends to see a movie. I, and another friend, arrived early, and as so often happens these days, out came the iPhone.

We played Battleship on my friend's iPhone. I mention this to illustrate two points; the first is that I rock at Battleship, I won four games to zip, and secondly, to show just how far portable gaming has come in my lifetime.

The hype surrounding the recent release of Call of Duty: Black Ops has definitely paid off for Treyarch and Activision with the sales figures eclipsing last year's launch of Modern Warfare 2. The first day of sales totaled 5.6 million copies with a total $360 million. And I must admit, the hype has had me drawn in as well. Although I'm yet to part with my hard earned cash until the initial bugs have been ironed out, I have been on the look out for the best price available.

A policeman, figure of protection and safety, wanders through a deserted area filled with bodies and empty cars. He walks to a petrol station and just as he notices there is no fuel left, he hears a noise. Getting close to the ground we see slippers stopping and picking up a teddy bear. No, this is more of a teaser of things to come.

Over the last couple of months I've been keeping an eye on ebay, gauging market prices for things.

Well, this weekend was the weekend of deals...plus I won one auction that was an absolute screaming steal.

November 7th, Outskirts of Murovanka.

Intel reports of enemy forces just off the North East from the village center. The entire make up of the team is not known but scouts have spotted a hostile Hummel prior to radio comms going down, the last known location was sector B0.

I quickly noted down the info on my map:

Our plan was simple, at this stage wait for visual and then flank with Platoon...
