So a bunch of gamers made a mod for HL2 called Age of Chivalry. It proved popular so they considered making a stand alone game. They switched from source to the unreal3 engine and worked on it for years. They were funded by friends and family for the first few years but when they felt ready to deliver on the promise they started a Kickstarter program which was hugely successful.
This is a bit of a dream story for the team behind the game...They've lived the dream and now have gone from the bedroom to the boardroom.
As far as user experience goes it's the sword fighting simulation I've been waiting for ever since Bushido Blade for the PS1. It does take a while to get used to but once you have the timing down and realise you have total control of your swing arc epic duels ensue.
TOG has 2 servers available for your enjoyment:
The Fun server is set to Free For All (ffa) but can be changed to any setting you like.
And the Duel server is set up as a proving ground to enhance your 1v1 skills. Please throw out a battle cry and get one back in response before attacking.
As far as voice coms go...we are a new division in TOG and are still working that out...PM me or add TOG | Mixa to your friends list. That said, there is a fairly functional in game voip with the default key of G
