I didn't really like any of the other GTA games (not since the original top-down few games) but this one is really tempting me. I am leaning towards the Xbox version because I have an overseas friend who wants to play online, but that wont happen too often so that isn't a really massive deciding factor. Anyone seen both? Anyone seen issues with a particular version? Anything really stand out between the two? I'm looking up as much info as I can, but there is nothing like talking to people.
Help!

I think the only gripe that I have with my copy (on xbox 360) is that the graphics do not seem as crisp and clear in some situations, usually when driving through town underneath the train tracks. Things tend to blurr a bit and it makes it very hard to identify different types of cars. In more confined places and during the cutscenes everything looks great. Still, the gameplay is smooth and (touch wood) I haven't had any game freezes or crashes yet.
I must admit I would be interested to see how the graphics look on the PS3. |

For those who know me you may have a hard time believing I wrote this but ...
My two cents for what it is worth: I feel the PS3 version is the better of the two. ![]() I got the 360 version first and traded it in as I felt the controls were annoying and the graphics while good, were not as clean as I thought they could be. I am not a fan of any of the GTA games so I gave up on it quick. I than traded a stack of old games (plus GTA) at JB Hifi towards a new PS3 and it just so happened I got the GTA pack for the same price as a stand alone console. So I gave the game another go and I find myself actually enjoying the PS3 version. I feel the controls are tighter (well as tight as they can be in a GTA game I guess) and the graphics cleaner. I have not tried the online component of either version though, hopefully this weekend if I get some time. Kgo, you get your copy of this yet?

this by far is my favorite gta in the series...it is the first 1 where i have wanted to just play the game instead of going on rampages through the city and it has the best story of the lot. HOWEVER the camera in the 360 version (i dont know if its the same for ps3) really really sux.
i find i have to keep hitting b to get it to go back to the forward camera on the car plus when you have the car cam at the back in third person its just that little bit too low so i have to hold the right stick to see over the top of the car properly especially up hills ...amongst other things. though that is my only gripe with it. |

I'm playing on 360, and I really don't have many complaints thus far. Online on 360 is definitely better than PS3 (my friend has the PS3 version). The controls for driving are a little more responsive on 360, but the on-foot controls have a better "feel" on PS3. Also, there's a small difference in the color pallette between the two versions. The PS3's graphics seemed a little more vibrant than the 360's. But I hated how the gun controls felt on the PS3 gamepad. As for which version I recommend: get the version that lets you play with a controller.
