I have been scanning Ebay at around the $300+ range. I am also taking a trip to a few second hand stores over the weekend. As a last resort I will be buying another PS2 to replace my dead one

Good luck finding an original 60Gb for $300 unless it has a YLoD.

Having said that, I *may* have a lead on one that could be coming up for sale. I don't know whether it will be for certain, nor how much, but I'll keep you posted. Bump this thread in a week or so's time to remind me...
