im really tempted to get ps3 as jb hifi $600 3 games hdmi cable ( 360 gig version) its the best deal i could find atm
my question is is the ps3 chipable like the ps2 was??????

If you need a blu-ray/media player for the room or the kids are interested go for it, otherwise don't bother.

will it play burnt blu rays ??????????????? games and movies ect? how can u back up games and play them ?

You can put custom firmware on older models, don't think you can on new ones as they have the 3.60 firmware on them already and you can't downgrade. Also can't go online with CFW and most new games require firmware 3.60 so can't be played on CFW unless the pirates release a patch for them.

As for movies, you can always just set up your PC as a media server and stream them through the PS3.

Depends who burning them, or as other have said just stream from a PC. As for backing up games I can't believe it would be practical but 2nd hand games can be had for bugger all.

To my knowledge no one has ever been able to make a mod chip successfully for the ps3.
