You send me several of emails inside a week. I don't want them. Unlike any decent umpromted email system there is no one-click 'I never want to hear from you again button'.

So I log back in here. I try disabling my account. No obvious way to do so. Not allowed to access any of the options that might lead me to cancelling my account. Not allowed to contact you directly.

So please. Pretty please. Can you just delete my account and ensure I never hear from you again? And as a bonus ensure in future your unwelcome email procedures are sorted out so that they take less than a minute.

p.s. To the anal retentive sorts : Yes there is probably a way I missed to achieve what I wanted. But that I couldn't do so VERY easily is a fault of your design, not mine.

The response has been extremely positive, people have come back praising this feature and are happy to be notified of what is happening within TOG.
Being informed of these things is bound to make your experience on the TOG site a better one.

Therefore we will be using this system as our primary way of communicating the latest TOG news to our members.
We find that global announcements in particular tend to be missed amongst the wealth of threads that people are presented with when browsing the forums.

Future communications will be coming from an account specifically created for this purpose called "TOG News!"

The notifications that you will be receiving will include things like:

* New articles on the frontpage, member columns, reviews, division news etc.
* Internal TOG competitions and events
* Announcements for TOG get togethers, drinks, BBQ's, TOG Lan events...
* TOG Competitions
* New forums
* New divisions
* New features and functionalities
* Did you know that you can.... types of informative messages
* And everything else that may be of value to our members and visitors


If you really do not want to receive any communications then you can add the "TOG News!" account to your ignore list.

I would also like to use this opportunity to ask everyone to verify their email addresses as the amount of bounces we are getting on people's emails are very high. Not just because they don't exist but things like mailbox full, anti spam filters asking for a verification process etc.

So please update your email address if applicable, if you don't want to receive email notifications you can disable this via your control panel as well.

Then finally the TOG news account is a noreply one, if you have any queries you can pm me (Father) directly.

We do not send you unsolicited emails, the emails you have received are notifications that you received a private message, the choice to open an account here was yours in the first place. Deleting an account after it has been created is not an option and is not an option on about 99% of all forums.

The final pm that was sent out actually included instructions as to how you can:
1) no longer receive PM's from the "TOG News!" account
2) no longer receive any email notifications of private messages.

With all due respect, I have no system in place to individually ensure that I don't annoy those few people at the expense of not informing the rest of the TOG member base.
There are systems in place to avoid these things, you can also Read The Fine Manual to the vbulletin forum system.

If you sign up for an account somewhere you are expected to make a reasonable effort to understand how things work and we are expected to make things as intuitive as possible which I believe we do.

Our design might not be perfect but it's a lot better then your attitude used to bring this to our attention.

FYI, we normallly do not delete created accounts either, but especially for you we will make an exception, nice and easy and less then a minute.
