Default Unsolicited emails

I am aware of Fathers stance on this, however, he is actually wrong. What he is done is at best dubious, and at worst actually illegal.

This is due to how the Tog news system is implemented. I allowed private message notifications, so i can tell when other members contact me. Not to be spammed. It is essentially the same as a bot signing up, then sending PMs to all your members and you turning around and saying "well, you signed up to the notifications".

There should be an opt out system for this, so people can decline tog news without losing their private message notifications. Which i can't alter anyway, so i have no way to remove myself.

I would like not to receive these emails.

Thanks

Hi Corroded, I disabled your notificationsn for you, you should certainly be able to access your CP and disable them.

I've found the messages to be a big pain in the ass too. If I wanted to know what was on the TOG front page, I would read it.

Because of this spam I've had to disable email notifications... so now I won't know when someone sends me a PM.

There really should be some way to opt out.

Why is it some people only think about themselves when they join a community??

I think there is. Just put Tog News! in your ignore list the same as you would any other member you didn't wish to hear from.

Spot on Granpa.

So Deadcat, have you thought about the advertisers who pay to advertise on the Front page as well? Or is your generous regular donation keeping things alive?

Deadcat, the last PM that was sent out clearly explained the instructions on how to specifically block these messages as all future ones will be sent from one specific account called "TOG News!".

Not only that, it also states which types of information you will find in those PM's and it will be a lot more then just what is going to be on the frontpage.

Not sure what more you want me to do, it is after all a community forum and I think it is my responsibility to put things into place that exactly inform the members of this community of what is relevant to them.

Gimeee More messages.
Guys, sprouting legalities when your in this type of community, sorry but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. To call the messages " SPAM" after receiveing 2 of them, is a little melodramatic one would think.
