Default Why the nasty attitudes?

Some people don't like the new PM spam, me included, I did not feel the need to complain about it, as I just unchecked the email option. However others that either did not know about that option decided to post here about the new "News" tactic, and instead are being ripped apart by TOG officers and above. This seems very un tog like to me. If you dislike what they say, simply remove them as they have asked, say you have done so, and lock the thread and move on. The petty bickering from both sides is not imo the mature way to handle things.

Since on the subject... where is the "unclick" to eliminate pm's specific to "TOG News!"? I followed the direction provided (least I thought I did) and placed "TOG News!" on my ignore list.
This morning, I received another e-mail: "You have received a new private message at The Older Gamers Forums from Father, entitled "Stay in the Loop with our Trackmania Division!"."

Before I place "Father" on the ignore list (Don't know if that is possible) - what am I doing wrong?

LOL! I need a 1,2,3 step process

I would like to receive e-mails for PM's from friends and would like to utilize the option to eliminate further unwanted e-mails.

As stated from the OP - I am also not seeking to ruffle TOG Admin / Moderator feathers...

Maybe instead of ignoring TOG News! / Father e-mails make an Advertisement section along the side of all pages viewed highlighting the most current news - a quick click to review the news assembled by TOGGER'S vesting their time to bring us enjoyable news on the gaming world?
That would have interest to me - I get to see what TOG News featured article details if I choose / holds interest.

Thanks for your instructional responses to this and thank you for hosting, etc this setting for TOGGER'S! I just think this one issue could be handled differently.

We are open to suggestions, so if you have a more suitable way to do this, we would be interested to hear it

Withe ignore list thing, just double check you put in "TOG News!" exactly (Minus quotation marks)

The other option is to set "Receive email notification on new PM" to "No"

This would be my suggestion:

As copied from above Sytes post: "Maybe instead of ignoring TOG News! / Father e-mails make an Advertisement section along the side of all pages viewed highlighting the most current news - a quick click to review the news assembled by TOGGER'S vesting their time to bring us enjoyable news on the gaming world?

Thank you for the instruction for the ignore portion though that is the exact name I have set in the ignore ~TOG News!~ Does it take a day or two to process maybe?

Copied from my Buddy / Ignore List:

To remove a user from either the Buddy or Ignore Lists, un-tick the box next to their name and click the 'Save List' button.

To add a user to either list, enter their name in the empty boxes for that list and click 'Save List'.

The reason for that is simply my bad, I accidentally sent the last one from my own account, this was certainly not meant to have been. So having made the mistake once and kicking myself as soon as I pressed "send" wil ensure it won't happen again.

So I do apologise for that one folks.

As to rude remarks, as far as I can see it's been a case of rudeness for rudeness, many people just nicely asked to be removed from this feature of have their memberships removed, and we have done so.

Some people became extremely rude about it and sent the most abusive messages I have seen for a long time. I think we have tried everything possible within the technical limitations of the system that we are using to make it simple for people to not receive these things if they don't want too.

If some people feel abused by TOG staff following a civilised request then I do apologise as that should certainly not be the case.
As with any complaint there are two ways to make them and them most satisfying one for the one who complains will typically not produce the most satisfying response, this is just human behaviour and goes both ways.
We are here to help, ask for it and we will help you, there is no need to scream and shout abuse.

Thank you.

Don't know why you have to apologise Father as it was probably Fid's fault.

Just to clarify since my thread is locked...

When i read the email, i did notice there was a section regarding locking... since i couldn't access the panel i though that this was my end and emails would be send to me, and get automagically dropped into the spam box etc... i didn't think that was right. And as i said, that seemed like spamming to me, i know it was with the best intentions but i didn't really want it... bit rash to jump on it after a couple of messages but i'd rather just sort it before it came annoying...

I think mine might be slightly different circumstance, since i'm not yet a full member of tog (and maybe can't block stuff, i get perm errors).
