Default MMO Lifestyle

Hello TOG

I am the founder of a new (soon to debut) MMORPG dedicated webzine called MMO Lifestyle. Our website and forums will offer something a bit different than what most do. Sure we will have the standard interviews, reviews and so on. However, you will notice that the majority of the content in these articles will be geared toward the people behind the game and the business of the industry.

Such as, instead of seeing questions like “What new loot is going to drop in the next update?” you may see things like “What kind of impact do you see the free to play games with their micro-transaction structure having on the more traditional western MMO revenue structure?” to “Do you where pajamas with feet built in?”. Also, instead of just having developer and director interviews, you will see some with PR representatives, Community Relations managers, Artists, Writers, Presidents, QA, Customer Service and maybe even the guy that mops the floors after hours at Blizzard.

We are not going to focus on the games themselves (though there will be enough of that) but as I said above, more son on the business and people behind the games that we play.

On top of this, the world wide gaming community will also be our focus. We will have feature articles, interviews and so on about the players of MMORPG games. We will be interviewing and featuring gaming communities, guilds and even single random players.

This is what brings me to the, The Older Gamers home. I am interested in doing a Q&A with the Administrative staff here. As well as with one of your guilds. Both of these will be featured on our website for its launch. As such, I would like to request that any interested guild leaders within TOG reply to this post or e-mail me @ aor at mmolifestyle dot com (the address is in my profile). If your particular guild is not chosen for the launch of our website, don’t worry. I have received an “OK” from the Administrators here at TOG to come back from time to time to solicit feedback on specific topics concerning the industry. At which time there may be opportunities for other TOG guilds to be interviewed as well.

Right now for our launch we have people onboard from Acclaim (Steven-Elliot Altman and Howard Marks), Sky Union for Voyage Century (Daniel Lin), Gameconsultants.com (David Perry who is also with Acclaim), Perpetual Entertainmet (who just came onboard while I was typing this and of which the person is being kept a secret for now).

We are also waiting on feedback from a Vanguard fan site, another (well known) lead developer/CEO/President, a Community relations manager and YOU! So your guild and Admin staff should be in pretty good company.

Also, our forums have recently gone live. I invite you all to stop by and use them at any time. The forums are not a general game discussion type of set up. Instead they are focused around the players and their MMORPG needs and wants. Right now there are a few basic pointed questions available in the Inquisitor forum. The idea of the forums is for them to be a central location for MMO players to interact and leave feedback, thoughts and general impressions about the MMO market as a whole and not an individual game. As such we hope it will also be a place the developers and the like will stop by to see what it is that’s being asked for and/or criticized. The concept has already been met with some favoritism.

So, have a look at the forums but most of all, let me now if any of you are interested in doing a Q&A session.

Thank you for your time and allowing me to post here.
