Hard to go into it at this early stage, and without you having seen it, it's harder again.

Basically, it feels unfinished. It feels like a mod. It looks poor compared to the main game, like it's got all details off, and no shadows or something... just weird. Then you've got a very annoying, and very constant "notification" of game changes "The Factory is being captured" etc... It never stops. Maybe that's just the game type, but it's HELL annoying.

Also, it uses the standard EA server browser, that hasn't worked since BF:1942 was released. They keep patching it, but it's broke. And... you need a GameSpy account... trying to create a new one is worse than difficult, and accessing an old one aint easy either.

Then there's the game itself. It's laggy. It's EA. It's laggy. So not only is it like that, but everyone has MAXIMUM ARMOUR, so it takes forty shots to nail someone... either that, or they're invisible!! Now, it's kinda cool to be able to do that in a game, as it's a bit like legal hacking, but that's just it... watch a bad guy running along, track him ready to take the shot, and he disappears... Just like he was hacking... but wait!! No, he didn't disappear... the server lagged, and now he's over there!!

MAXIMUM SPEED... just like bunny hopping but worse.

Did I mention there's a tutorial?? There has to be!! It's SO complex, you'll need tuition! Oh, and as if all this isn't bad enough, it's got the Counter-Strike system of buying weapons!! For God's sake, you're a warrior of the future in a friggin Nano suit... and you have to earn points to buy weapons?? You don't even start off with enough to buy the standard main gun!!

So... that's the bad.

The good... It's Crysis. It's still pretty cool. It's rainy on some maps. It looks great sliding down the walls! You can sneak around invisible... that in itself is way cool. You can jump high, run fast, and moonwalk when it lags.

Big maps. Some urban, some not. Great sniping maps too. There are vehicles too, some probably really cool. Haven't got that far yet. When you know someone is there, just can't see them, you do see the electric blue shiver that happens every three seconds or so. Not impossible to spot them, just VERY hard. Also, I think you can get nano (nanoo?) "dispersers" or something. Probably like an EMP thing to stop the invisibility. Used well, it'll be the gizmo of choice me thinks.

Look, it's probably not that bad, but I've just come from COD4, which works brilliantly out of the box. It's perfect. This... feels like an EA game. Needs patching. Lots of it. But who knows, as I've said, I've played very little of it, as have the others that were on server. Give it a few weeks to settle in, and we'll see how it pans out. Crysis is a single player game, with MP tacked on. The "modability" of this title gives me wood. Where it'll go is anyones guess, but I think it can only improve.

Yep.

The VERY complex nature of it, is one gameplay type. I tried deathmatch today, and it's very straight forward, and quite fun. Still looks poor (maybe my system) and is still laggy as hell (beyond bad) but as always, shooting people is fun!

I'm sure one day when I'm running for Prime Minister, this very post will come back to haunt me.
