I'm even disappointed in the single player side of it. something about it just doesnt ring true. might be that it takes 50 shots to kill someone, or that the weapons arent that accurate (considering the open nature on the maps). hmm, will give it more time I guess...

I think single player is great - and I think that people who are saying it's terrible may have something in common. I suggest you're running in all guns a blaze.

If you use stealth and tactics, it makes the game more fun (IMO) and you can do cool one shot head shots etc. If you make good use of the stealth attribute, you can pop out shoot someone, stealth and watch their reaction as you circle around to finish others off.

Something that wasn't available (or wasn't working) for me in the demo was the total destructable environment. It's satisying to tear down the house of your enemy for some reason.

Just my 2 cents.

the stealth ability might actually be useful if it lasted longer than 6 seconds. maybe in multiplayer it's long enough to be useful and making a getaway, but the AI in crysis still lets the enemy see you and hear you when they shouldnt be able to. Like I said though, i'll give it more time.

On the flip side it's running quite well, I fire it up on DX9 and on medium settings, 1920x1200 res and I get ~50 fps which is great.

Does that full game make use of all 4 cores Vine or just 2 like the demo??

Hopefully they werent talking out of their...err....Intel slush fund of crap... when they said quad core more preferable to high clock dual core.

Ah there's a trick with the stealth mate. If you creep it lasts longer. In fact, if you stay still it doesn't get used up. Great for using the binocs.

Cool specs Vine. I'm running 1024x768 with all settings on high and 4x AA and getting about 25-30 FPS.

This is what it looks like:

Well, I still think the weapons are a little bit too accurate. Would like to see a bit more sway in standing and kneeling stance when not in power mode.

Have not really come across the 50 hits to kill a NK, even with open sights (delta mode, on screen crosshairs are just silly) I just headshot em and down they drop. If your aiming for the body and using a silencer, then forget quick kills, the NK body amour will absorb a lot of the impact. Always go for the head, even in hectic firefights.

And yeah, the cloak is a great way to get into that position to start taking em out, have never really felt that it wears off to fast, just activate it when getting closer, move slowly into finally position and then just sit there till the right time presents itself. If you fire your few shots with a silenced rifle, then the NK’s will even if there is a few of them, start looking around, but it will take a bit for em to track you down.

I mainly use 2 weapons, the S.C.A.R with sniper or assault scope and silencer always in single shot mode, and the NK’s FY71 (think that’s right) with just a grenade launcher on it. I use the S.C.A.R for silent takedowns, and then as it gets more interesting, switch to the FY and pop up and down from cover, mowing em down, again, and just using open sights to line up there heads and watch the helmets fly.

Have yet to compare full retail MP with the Beta as yet, still hooked on the single player part, and having a lot of trouble trying to stop.

After stuffing around in the editor, trying to work on my own maps, I also find myself walking around the new maps amazed at the level of detail that has been put into each map, how well all the textures and placement of items go together etc, and thinking how its going to look, when coming back later with a “Fixed” TAC launcher, watching all the tress and buildings get taken out by a few shots.

I just truly wished that S.T.A.L.K.E.R was made using CE2, such a great engine to work with out of the box.

thanks for the tips on the stealth and tactics, i'll try it out. And yeah STALKER remade would be amazing with this engine. Maybe a similar game will get released with a licensed engine.

Pistols FTW!! A silenced pistol is VERY accurate and deadly at close range. Use the laser if needed. Helps me. Also, set it double tap. Hit the x key to change the rate of fire, and it'll give you two shots instead of one. Double headshot?? Yeppo.

And yeah, stealth is great. You can pretty much get anywhere any time with it. Just either crouch, or even better, crawl. The less you move, the longer it lasts, and yeah, perfect for bino's!

I play the stealth option, and really enjoy it. One thing that irks me is the flare! What is it with doing a stealth approach, and still being spotted, flare fired, and support on its way? Mind you, that's only in one or two spots.
