it does to the guy who made the video too - if you read that frame with the text on it, he says it was played back at 8spf... 8 seconds per frame, then sped up afterwards. I wonder if an Ageia PhysX card would increase the speed.

At this stage no. An Ageia based Physics card will not offer any benifit to Crysis nor majority of other games. Crysis I belive uses there own Physics engine, not Ageia nor Havoc, however there was talk of 1, Crytek offering support to PPU add on cards with there engine, and 2, of Ageia tring to provide a legacy mode that would allow the PPU functions to work with any major physics engines.

However, as ATi is looking (maybe completed now) at buying out Ageia, there has been no confirmation of the expected development plans as yet.

The biggest issue with PPU based solutions, is there still is not a unified driver set for dealing with physics processing, untill games come standard with Unified PPU functionality I can't see solutions like Ageia becoming any more popular.

the PPU needs to be integrated onto the video card, which I assume is ATi's gameplan. nVIDIA will have to offer something similar, or perhaps license the Agea chip off ATi (not likely). I'm not fussed with specifics, as long as we can get physics like that video happening in real-time

Isn't ATi a wholly-owned subsidiary of AMD now?

Pretty sure you're right there mate. But I don't think there's any reason why ATi can't still run under their name for a while longer.

Although I think it'll take a while, it'll be very interesting to see where this partnership goes. It really does have the potential for great things. But it will take time.
