Question Installing Question.

Hi guys,

Installed in and love it.

But it seems like it didnt install properly.

I run Vista.

I ran the install program all seems ok. But the install program wont install any .exe files to the Crysis directory. Also no desktop icons.

I have to Auto Run the game from the disk.

Is this normal?

It'll be in your "Games" folder. Hit your "Start" button (that isn't Start anymore" - top section of the panel to the right. You'll find it there.

Will it run faster running from the game directory rather than the CD?

It seems to still be running slow.

I am running a Q6600 with 3gig RAM and a 8800GT.

Should this be occuring?

If I remember right, the exe file is stashed away deeper in the folder structure in one of the Bin's than you might expect, here's where mine is, I use the bin64 'cause I figured it's for 64bit vista, there was another regular Bin if memory serves me well.

"C:\...\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis\Bin64\Crysis.exe"

There's probably something else bothering Crysis... try doing the usual turning off of virus scanner etc.
Also, did you install DX10? If so, you can right click the game and choose run with either Dx9 or 10 or just use the 64b exe as Reoh said.

at home everything appeared in the games folder on the start menu but at work it didn't. Home = Home premium 64b, work = Business 64b which might tell you why you don't see it in the start menu.

Is your windows firewall blocking it... or even the UAC?

try running as administrator.

Thanks for your replys guys.

As Spec said in the Games folder.

Strange never seen that on a game before or maybe Vista is not my friend at the moment.

Still its running like trash. I throw in another 1 gig today so that takes it to 4 gig of Kingston.

Strange indeed.

It really is a beast of a program mate. Still unaware of a system that can run it max/smooth... and just wait till you get right into it! Even worse!

Very strange for me, but it'd run everything at medium, and play fine with good FPS, but then after a while (before the ice) it just bogged down so hard I had to turn everything off, set everything low, and even then it was massively slow. Just killed the gameplay and ruined the experience. I'm running an old(ish) CPU, so I blame that... but it's just a killer of PC's.

Did you try lowering your graphic options? maybe it can help but you have a nice spec in your PC what's with the slowness. Maybe Spectre8 is right this game is one heck a beast of a program.

YEP again your right SPEC just got to the ICE and it felt like I was playing BF2 on a Ping of 1000.

It was unplayable. I have not tried turning down the settings yet.

Why make a game that no one can play on high settings? Well yes you can if you spend 5K on a machine. But I wonder how many people can actually play this game on even medium settings once in the ICE.

I must say the floating part inside the cave was just silly. The lead up was fantastic. But the cave really did not suit the game at all. Why have floating aliens etc inside a cave. Silly IMO.

Also the badies dont use their nano suit to fight you. Why not? Earlier when you first find out they have the nano suits they use them.

Also just before you enter the cave can you actually fly any of those planes?

Yeah, the ice section is bad. IMHO the cinematic effects in the cave/spaceship were just great but not really much fun for game play.

My machine plays the game quite well with everything on medium and a few bits set higher.
