Red face dayz overwatch with zeroing rifle

Just sitting in the bushes over the Solinichiny factory. No range finder but I love the zeroing on the m24 so need good ranges.

So I start setting waypoint to various places - bridge, tip of the little lake, barn, petrol station etc to get range.

Then i draw a rough map of my view and record the ranges.

Yep a basic rangecard can work wonders for sniping in this game, preparation means fast and accurate shooting.

yeah svd is nice - would not say no.

also been thinking of maybe doing a small overlay of some sort - an actual physical thing.
say transparent sheet of plastic - on it draw the equivalent of the svd/pso scope thing.

Then attach it to my monitor, go into binos - do a quick range map, put it away

Except I'd have an A4 sized sheet so could include things other than just a person standing upright - maybe some sort of bush or tree that's always same size - can have more than 1 thing at this - i could also optimise it for binoculars rather than a m24/dmr

What do you guys think?

would it really be considered a hack ?
a hardware based hack O.O proper and old school.
Sort of like using a piece bluetack in the middle of your monitor on servers with no crosshairs.

Or games where you've used the console to turn off the UI and HUD for cooler looking youtube videos, but still need to be able to aim to hit stuff. Oh yeah.

Re other sized stuff, how about this. We get on a normal server, where you get a nametag and a distance when you mouse over someone. Someone (ie me for instance) stands 100m away from you, and you mark an overlay. Then that person crouches while you mark, then prones. same at 200m, rinse and repeat out to 1km. then you take another overlay and with the first one under it, set up your harware PSO scope, scaled to player models at known distances.
